Imaging findings of breast silicone implant rupture are well described in the literature. On MRI, the linguine sign indicates intracapsular rupture, while the presence of silicone particles outside the fibrous capsule indicates extracapsular rupture. Leg stiffness (Kleg) is an important component to consider in both performance and injury in the Australian Football League (AFL). Kleg has not yet been examined longitudinally throughout an entire AFL season. Musculoskeletal injury associated with vascular compromise is a limb-threatening situation. When these injuries are associated with open fractures, the risk of limb loss is increased. In the case of an open fracture of the tibia associated with vascular compromise distal to the popliteal artery trifurcation, limb salvage is rarely indicated. Attempts at limb salvage in open tibial fractures are associated with a high risk of complication, prolonged recovery and poor function. Early amputation is more effective than delayed amputation.

We reviewed the case summaries of eight patients who developed concurrent compartment syndromes of the foot and leg after trauma. Patients with multiple fractures of the lower extremities, particularly the tibia, femur, and foot, may develop this disorder. MESS (Mangled Extremity Severity Score) is a simple rating scale for lower extremity trauma, based on skeletal/soft-tissue damage, limb ischemia, shock, and age. Ninety-four cases of limb vascular traumas were observed in children during a 25 year-period. Treatment was done less than 12 hours after the injury in 83 cases, later than 24 hours in 7 cases. Superior limbs were more often concerned than inferior limbs: 65 vs 29 cases. Bone lesions were found in 34% of cases, articular lesion in 12% and neurological lesions in 40%. Vascular repair was necessary in 63 cases, mostly by suture (41 cases) or venous graft (16 cases). Two patients died because of associated polytrauma. In 8 cases, anatomical and functional results are good, but follow-up is short.

A retrospective analysis of 105 clinical observations of nonhealing wounds, trophic ulcers and fistulas caused by various foreign bodies has shown their diagnostic difficulties as well as problems with their treatment. It was shown that continuous ambulatory treatment and attempts of "blind" extraction of foreign bodies are not permissible. The best method of treatment is thought to be operative interventions with wide opening of the wound canal under general anesthesia.

The fasciocutaneous flap is very useful in the repair of soft tissue defects on the lower leg. It is easy to design and construct large flaps that are safe because of the good circulation. The operating time is short for an experienced surgeon and no extra equipment is needed. It is perfectly possible to carry out surgery on the underlying bones at the same time. The postoperative treatment is simple for both the patient and the staff. The surgical technique is described and the results of 23 flaps are critically reviewed.
