BACKGROUND: Our purpose was to clarify the effect of hormone replacement therapy (H.R.T.) for patients with stress incontinence.
METHODS: We investigated 25 postmenopausal women, age 54-73 years, with a leakage volume is less than 15 g/day. In this study 0.625 mg of conjugated estrogen and 2.5 mg of medroxyprogesterone acetate were administrated for a total of 4 months. A clinical evaluation, measurement of volume of leakage per day and urodynamic evaluation (urethral pressure profile) were performed three times at pre administration, and at 2 months and 4 months after administration.

LQT2 may manifest as QT prolongation on an electrocardiogram and present with arrhythmic syncope/seizures and sudden cardiac arrest/death. A 19-year-old female with Poland's Syndrome with associated left amastia, scoliosis, and left Sprengel deformity developed secondary amenorrhea from premature ovarian failure. Her menarche was at 13 years of age, and periods were regular and monthly until 15 years of age when her periods suddenly stopped. Estrogen deficiency is the one of pathogenetic causes of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Exogenous estrogen may prevent postmenopausal bone loss, so to prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis and osteoporotic fracture. The effect of estrogen on postmenopausal syndrome can not be substituted with other medicine. However, the attention should be paid to the safety of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) during its long term use, and HRT should be used individually.
