OBJECTIVE: To study the predictive value of the history of genital pain, psychiatric complaints and menstrual symptoms on a woman's sexual life before and after subtotal hysterectomy.

A 15 year old girl presented twice with severe symptoms of multiorgan disease during a period of 4 weeks resulting in intensive care necessary to control illness. Prolactin and FSH were radioimmunologically found in 16 cases of primary amenorrhoea, 73 cases of secondary amenorrhoea, 27 cases of oligomenorrhoea as well as 22 cases of eumenorrhoea and we diagnosed 36 hyperprolactinaemias, 4 tumours of the hypophysis and 4 hypergonadotropic amenorrheas. In 25 cases of post-pill-amenorrhoeas we found 12 functional hyperprolatinaemias. The prolactinomas were subjected to microsurgical therapy. Functional hyperprolactinaemia was treated with bromocryptin, especially in those cases where a child was wanted.

The clinical features of 35 patients with bulimia nervosa are described. All the patients came from the Oxford area and each fulfilled conservative operational diagnostic criteria. Standardised assessment procedures were used including a structured interview designed to assess the psychopathology characteristic of patients with eating disorders. It was confirmed that these patients have grossly disturbed eating habits accompanied by morbid beliefs and values concerning their shape and weight. The Authors report their experience in a double-blind, crossover study (danazol versus placebo) in 38 patients suffering from severe benign mastopathy. The results were evaluated with regard to clinical data (mastodynia, breast nodularity) and data from comparative infrared thermography. Danazol was given in a dose of 400 mg/day for 3 months. In Hungary a significant increase occurred in the birth prevalence of congenital limb reduction abnormalities from 1975 to 1978 after the introduction of a new population policy in 1974. We investigated increased production of testosterone and androstenedione in 44 women with unexplained adult-onset hirsutism, 41 of whom had normal-sized ovaries.
