[A model of intestinal infiltrate in conditions of chronic experiment].

A chronic intestinal infiltrate model, aiming at a typical inflammatory process simulation, was elaborated in experiment. As a result of experiment on 30 rabbits the quantity of colonies of various causative agents was established, which did not cause the abscess and peritonitis formation. While doing the operation in 60 rabbits chronic infiltrate was formed between abducting and adducting small intestine loops, its mesentery and big omentum; between abducting and adducting large intestine loops, its mesentery and big omentum. The infiltrate formation process was studied up on the 3, 7, 14th a

Ciprofloxacin-induced hemorrhagic vasculitis.

Ciprofloxacin-induced hemorrhagic vasculitis is a rare side effect. It has only been described in 10 case reports since 1989. However, recently we were confronted with two cases within 1 month. In one patient the vasculitis resolved after termination of the ciprofloxacin therapy; in the other patient the ciprofloxacin-induced hemorrhagic vasculitis was superimposed on a severe forefoot infection, leading to progressive gangrene and a below-knee amputation. Ciprofloxacin is among the standard treatments for infected ischemic ulcers; in the rare case of ciprofloxacin-induced hemorrhagic vasculit

Study of the efficacy and safety of ciprofloxacin in the treatment of chronic otitis.

Over a period of 18 months 76 patients presenting with acute exacerbations of chronic otitis were enrolled in this study. The mean age of th … on of 85 microorganisms, 65% of which were Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus or Proteus mirabilis. At the end of the treatment period, discharge from the ears (the primary clinical evaluation criterion) had ceased in 44/69 (64%) patients examined. The clinical cure rate was 23/39 (59%) for patients treated with 500 mg ciprofloxacin twice daily a …

Extracellular vesicles and their RNA cargo facilitate bidirectional cross-kingdom communication between human and bacterial cells.

While extracellular vesicles (EVs) are established mediators of intra-species signaling, their contribution to cross-kingdom communication remains incompletely understood. Here, we investigate the EV-mediated interactions between human colon epithelial cells and both Gram-positive and Gram-negative gut bacteria. We show that bacterial EVs (BEVs) derived from Lacticaseibacillus casei, Enterococcus faecalis, and Proteus mirabilis induce distinct transcriptomic changes in Caco-2 cells depending on the bacterial species, with up to ~6,000 differentially expressed genes, including CCL20, CXCL8, or …

Moderate reductions in adherence of Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis and Staphylococcus epidermidis to certain fatty acid containing (primarily decanoic acid and myristic acid) hydrogels were observed. No relationship was observed between hydrogel contact angle and resistance to microbial attachment. Most fatty acid- …

Providencia rettgeri as an unusual pathogen in diabetic foot osteomyelitis: A case report and literature review.

Providencia rettgeri is a Gram-negative bacterium, rarely reported as a cause of diabetic wound infections. Its frequent resistance to β-lactams and carbapenems limits treatment options, especially in immunocompromised patients. We present the case of a 59-year-old unhoused male living with diabetes, peripheral artery disease, and prior bilateral transmetatarsal amputations who presented with a University of Texas 3B diabetic foot ulcer. Magnetic resonance imaging showed osteomyelitis of metatarsals 2-4, and bone biopsy grew Providencia rettgeri and Proteus mirabilis. The patient declined furt…

A Case of Isolated Extramedullary Plasmacytoma of the Sternoclavicular joint: A Rare Case Report.

BACKGROUND: Solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma (SEP) is a rare proliferative clonal plasma cell disease. However, its occurrence in the st … e culture of the sternoclavicular joint revealed the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Proteus mirabilis. Due to poor response to anti-infectious and anti-inflammatory treatments, malignancy could not be excluded. Biopsy was performed, the lesion was resected by thoracoscopy, and SEP was confirmed by pathological examination. The patient underwent loca …

Besides increasing bacterial resistance, they are characterised by a high proportion of significant positive correlations, indicating a high potential for mutually reinforcing resistance development. Only six species in this genus, including Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Proteus terrae, Proteus penneri, Proteus hauseri, and Proteus faecis, have been isolated from human clinical specimens. However, there are no reports of Proteus alimentorum isolated from humans, and the clinical characteristics of P. alimentorum infection are unknown.
