The combination of Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome and rheumatic mitral stenosis (MS) is rare in clinical practice. The management of this condition primarily depends on the clinical picture. We describe a 26-year-old male patient with no significant previous medical history and who came for a routine medical assessment before entrance to a police academy service. A 70-year-old woman was admitted from a local nursing home with extensive bruising and bilateral hip discomfort. The referring doctor had reported the possibility of elder abuse to the police. Full examination showed that osteomalacia, precipitated by a poor diet and lack of exposure to sunlight, was sufficient to explain the patient's condition. Caution is recommended in diagnosing elder abuse until other possibilities have been excluded.

Hanging is a method of death in which one end of a cord is tied around the neck and the other end is tied to an unmovable object and hung down, compressing the neck with weight. We have identified a rare case in which death was accomplished without tying one end of the rope. The individual was successfully hanged by the frictional force between the upward rope and the downward rope. The police concluded the case as a suicide.

In the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, arrests and imprisonment of Palestinian men in their early adulthood are common practice. The Public Committee Against Torture in Israel (PCATI) collected thousands of testimonies of Palestinian men allegedly tortured or ill-treated by Israeli authorities. There are many types of torture, sexual torture being one of them. This study is based on the PCATI database during 2005-2012, which contains 60 cases-- 4% of all files in this period--with testimonies of alleged sexual torture or ill-treatment. On December 11, 1983, 25-year-old Missourian Nancy Cruzan was in a serious car accident, pronounced dead at the scene by police then resuscitated by paramedics. In cases of child abuse, usually, the parents are initial suspects. A common explanation of the parents is that the injuries were caused by a sibling. Child-on-child violence is reported to be very rare in children less than 5 years of age, and thorough investigation by the police, child protective services, and medicolegal examinations are needed to proof or disproof the parents' statement. We report two cases of physical abuse of infants by small children.
