In the present study, the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE) from filarial parasites was identified in sera from humans infected with Onchocerca volvulus as well as in Mastomys natalensis infected with Brugia pahangi. Use of antibodies towards neutral alpha-glucosidase from human kidney brush border enabled to estimate distinctly the activity of acid alpha-glucosidase in urine of healthy persons and patients although the activity of neutral enzyme in urine exceeded markedly the acid enzyme activity. Simultaneous use of antibodies to both these enzymes permitted to estimate separately the activity of acid and neutral alpha-glucosidases in a mixture. Accuracy of these estimations was confirmed after consecutive use of these antibodies.

Human B-lymphotropic virus (HBLV), also known as human herpesvirus-6 (HHV-6) was first isolated in 1986 from AIDS patients and patients with other lymphoproliferative disorders. The paper with the comparative evaluation of serological tests in the diagnosis of human trichinellosis. The tests include ring precipitation test cold-precipitation test; agar diffusion technique; complement fixation test (cold binding); dermatol, carmine, and latex agglutination reactions. Serological tests applied to human trichinellosis were found to have different reliability. The most reliable reactions were those of ring precipitation, complement fixation test (cold binding) and cold- precipitation test. The agar diffusion technique was of little reliability only.

Basement membrane (type IV) collagens were extracted from a mouse tumour with acetic acid and from human placenta after limited enzymatic digestion. Antisera were produced against both collagens in rabbits and guinea-pigs and examined by various assays.
