The Healthcare Amyloidosis European Registry (HEAR): design of a national registry with a European extension strategy, and foundation of the F-CRIN GRACE network.

BACKGROUND: Cardiac amyloidosis (CA) is a rare disease that can lead to poor quality of life, conduction disorders, arrhythmia, heart failure, and even death. Fortunately, specific treatments that can modify the natural history of the disease and the disease outcomes are now available. However, data on the prevailing patient management procedures and long-term outcomes of CA are scarce. OBJECTIVE: The Healthcare Amyloidosis European Registry (HEAR) is 34-centre registry initiated in France and structured for European expansion through the French Clinical Research Infrastructure Network's Grou

[Ambitions and main conclusions of the conference "Global health, local decisions" organized by the Digital Health Network].

Health is "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". Health must therefore be considered in its entirety. To begin with, however, it is vital to move swiftly from the concept of holistic health to its practical implementation. This is what the first Digital Health Network symposium proposed on May 30 and 31, 2024. The Digital Health Network was originally set up by a group of players from the healthcare sector, industry, research and elected representatives, with the aim of pooling feedback from experience as close as possi

Advancing School-Based Efforts to Reduce Trauma and Violence Influences on Youth.

BACKGROUND: Trauma and violence exposure are critical barriers to educational equity, affecting student mental health and academic achievement. Despite growing attention to trauma-informed practices in schools, implementation remains uneven and often overlooks the complexity of trauma experiences or their systemic roots. CONTRIBUTIONS TO THEORY: Grounded in and extending Basch's (2011) framework for prioritizing health conditions to reduce educational disparities, this paper synthesizes lessons learned and proposes a path forward for school-based trauma prevention and intervention. We identif

When Markets Shape AI Mental Health Self-Management Tools: Consequences for Serious Mental Illness.

AI-enabled self-management health tools are increasingly promoted within health care policy as part of digital self-management models for mental health care. However, development is concentrated on scalable, low-intensity interventions for common conditions, such as anxiety and depression, rather than on populations with the greatest clinical need, such as those with serious mental illness (SMI). This includes schizophrenia-spectrum and bipolar disorders, which remain comparatively underserved, despite experiencing a disproportionate burden of morbidity and service use. However, the clinical f

Blockchain for Digital Health Governance: Evidence Gap Map and Scoping Review.

BACKGROUND: Digital health increasingly depends on data exchange across institutions, technologies, and jurisdictions, creating persistent challenges for the governance of access, consent, interoperability, provenance, and accountability. Blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT) systems have been proposed as mechanisms for coordinating and verifying governance processes across distributed actors. However, existing research has examined individual applications or technical domains, leaving unclear how blockchain/DLT systems function as governance infrastructure across health care, and

Current and potential uses of drones in healthcare delivery in sub-Saharan Africa: a rapid scoping review.

Drones are changing healthcare delivery, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), where traditional logistics face geographical, infrastructural, and resource limitations. This review maps where drones have been used in SSA, how they have been used, the outcomes and challenges, and the potential to expand drone systems to address other healthcare problems. A rapid scoping review methodology was employed, sourcing literature from Google Scholar, PubMed, SCOPUS, Web of Science, Cairn.info, and grey literature using targeted keywords such as 'drones,' 'medicine delivery,' and 'sub-Saharan Africa

The geography of waiting: surveillance latency as the hidden driver of Ebola risk in East Africa.

Ebola virus disease remains a persistent public health threat in East Africa, yet preparedness strategies continue to emphasise response after outbreaks are recognised rather than the period preceding detection. This Perspective argues that surveillance latency the cumulative delay between the earliest clinically meaningful signal and organised public health action is a critical but insufficiently measured determinant of Ebola risk. Although diagnostic and reporting delays have been widely documented, they are often treated as isolated operational challenges. We introduce the concept of the ge

Infertility, Reproductive Equity, and Policy Pathways for Assisted Reproductive Technology in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

BACKGROUND: Infertility affects an estimated 1 in 6 adults worldwide, yet access to assisted reproductive technology (ART) remains highly inequitable, underscoring the need for policy action. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) constitutionally recognizes reproductive rights and ART. However, public ART services are virtually nonexistent, highlighting a critical gap in reproductive health services. METHODS: We conducted a mixed‑methods study combining quantitative analysis of 146 women presenting for infertility care at Elikya Clinic (Kinshasa, 2020-2024) with a normative review of Con

Integrated research: an approach suited to research in geriatric medicine.

"Integrated research" appears increasingly in the biomedical literature yet is rarely defined. We describe the concept and examine its relevance to aging research. In a scoping review, PubMed was searched without date restriction for articles whose title contained the exact phrase "integrated research". Records were charted by year, field, article type and integration dimension. One hundred and six articles (1980-2026) spanned nursing, environmental science, imaging, pharmacology, oncology, infectious disease, psychiatry, public health and geriatrics. Six recurring meanings emerged: integratio
