Magnesium and zinc levels in blood serum and cerebrospinal fluid were estimated in 18 children aged 8 months-5 years with febrile convulsions. Control group consisted of 15 apparently healthy children in the same age. On the ground of ethical reasons no control values for cerebrospinal fluid were evaluated. The mean serum concentration of magnesium and zinc was significantly lower in the sick children (p < 0.001 and p < 0.05 resp.). This study explored the health-care experiences of women diagnosed with pelvic inflammatory disease. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 23 women diagnosed with pelvic inflammatory disease. Many women felt empowered about their health post-diagnosis; however, a smaller number reported becoming hyper-vigilant towards symptoms. Infertility was the greatest concern for women. The current study was designed to investigate differences in mood and a range of QOL domains among 423 patients and 335 caregivers of people with motor neurone disease (MND), Huntington's disease (HD), Parkinson's, and multiple sclerosis (MS). This qualitative study, using interviews with 38 subjects, explored how and why they conceal bulimic symptoms and the understanding of concealing in terms of social interaction. A "double life" was described as a dichotomy between being active and outgoing versus performing shameful bulimic behaviors and constantly living with fear of stigmatization, and striving against exposure.
