Significant disparities in cystic fibrosis (CF) care persist across Europe. To address these inequalities, the European CF Society (ECFS) has launched the Twinning Project in collaboration with CF Europe. The project promotes structured partnerships between well-established and developing CF centres. Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia (WM) is characterized by familial aggregation. The study displayed the characteristics and outcomes of patients with WM in siblings. BACKGROUND: During an anthrax mass casualty event, prompt identification of patients with anthrax meningitis is important. Previous research has suggested use of a screening tool based on neurological symptoms and signs.
METHODS: Using historical anthrax patient data from 1880 through 2018, we analyzed risk factors for meningitis. We performed cytogenetic and molecular studies on an adult patient with refractory anemia with an excess of blasts with an add(11)(p15). Multicolor fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) identified the extra material on 11p as belonging to chromosome 15. Metaphase FISH with probes for chromosomes 5, 11, and 15 revealed a complex four-break rearrangement.
