Dexmedetomidine (DEX) is a commonly used sedative agent with no or minimal effects on breathing. DEX may also be beneficial in myocardial protection. In this study 28 patients with Helicobacter pylori-positive duodenal ulcers were treated with a 7-day triple-therapy regimen (omeprazole, clarithromycin, amoxycillin). Prescription data have been analysed in order to study drug exposure of women before, during and after pregnancy as compared to non-pregnant controls. During full term pregnancy (n = 341) drug exposure increased markedly, mostly due to prescription of drugs such as iron and vitamins.
