PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Aberrant autoreactive innate and adaptive immune responses cause systemic autoimmune diseases. Autoimmunity has been linked to abnormal metabolic states, and immunometabolism has emerged as a critical field in understanding the pathogenesis of rheumatic diseases.
