Understanding of Tic Disorders in Children and Adolescents and Perspectives on a Digital Intervention: A Qualitative Study Among Primary Care Professionals.

Primary care professionals are often the first line of support for children and adolescents with tic disorders. However, families often report feeling inadequately supported and perceive a lack of knowledge about tics. Few studies have examined primary care professionals' perspectives on managing tic disorders. This study explored how these professionals understood and managed tic disorders in a Danish region. Twelve professionals, including general practitioners and educational psychologists, participated in semi-structured interviews. Data were analysed using reflexive thematic analysis, res

Implementing a whole-of-service stepped care approach to personality disorder treatment: Impact of training and service redesign on clinician attitudes and skills.

Personality disorders are a highly prevalent mental health condition. Historically, clinician attitudes have been negative, and only a small number have specialised training. This study evaluated clinician attitudes and confidence in working with people with personality disorder following the combination of training and implementation of a stepped care whole-of-service approach. A total of 102 multidisciplinary mental health clinicians were trained to implement the stepped care approach, and completed surveys prior to implementation and at 12 months follow up. Clinicians delivered manualised s

Providers' knowledge and perception of xylazine in the unregulated drug supply: a sequential explanatory mixed-methods study.

BACKGROUND: Xylazine is increasingly prevalent in the unregulated opioid supply in the United States. Exposure to this adulterant can lead to significant harm, including prolonged sedation and necrotic wounds. In the absence of literature describing healthcare providers' experiences with treating patients who have been exposed to xylazine, we aimed to explore what gaps must be addressed to improve healthcare education and best practices. METHODS: From October 2023 to February 2024, we conducted a sequential explanatory mixed-methods study, with (1) a quantitative survey phase utilizing conven

U.K. standards of care for occupational contact dermatitis and occupational contact urticaria.

The diagnosis of occupational contact dermatitis (OCD) and occupational contact urticaria (OCU) is a process that involves fastidious clinical and occupational history taking, clinical examination, patch testing and skin-prick testing. A temporal relationship of work and/or the presence of a rash on the hands only raises suspicion of an occupational cause, and does not necessarily confirm an occupational causation. The identification of allergy by patch or prick tests is a major objective, as exclusion of an offending allergen from the environment can contribute to clinical recovery in the ind

Primary care physician knowledge, attitudes, and diagnostic testing practices for norovirus and acute gastroenteritis.

BACKGROUND: Norovirus is a leading cause of acute gastroenteritis (AGE) across the age spectrum; candidate vaccines are in clinical trials. While norovirus diagnostic testing is increasingly available, stool testing may not be performed routinely, which can hamper surveillance and burden of disease estimates. Additionally, lack of knowledge of the burden of disease may inhibit provider vaccine recommendations, which could affect coverage rates and ultimately the impact of the vaccine. Our objectives were to understand physicians' stool testing practices in outpatients with AGE, and physician k
