A case of an adult intussusception secondary to a fibroid polyp of the terminal ileum is reported. Adult intussusceptions are observed rarely, usually caused by an organic lesion. The preoperative diagnosis is based on US patterns, target aspect and sandwich sign.

A case of duodenojejunal intussusception secondary to a large hamartomatous polyp of Brunner's glands was reported in a 15-year-old girl. Despite a great preponderance of ileocolic intussusception in childhood, this is the first reported case of duodenojejunal intussusception occurring in that age group. Ectopic gastric mucosa in the small bowel not associated with Meckel's diverticulum, is rare. Most of the few cases found in the literature are symptomatic and complicated. We report a case of a three month-old baby, the youngest patient reported thus far. He had ectopic gastric mucosa in a polypoid lesion of the mid-ileum, which caused ileo-ileal intussusception.

A 16-year-old boy with chronic ulcerative colitis developed unexplained increasingly intractable abdominal pain and rectal bleeding over several months during a period when acute colitic attacks were quiescent. No abdominal mass was palpable. Within a department specialized in surgical gastroenterology 11 perforations of the large bowel occurred over a 10 year period as complication of diagnosis and treatment of polyps by colonoscopy. The incidence by diagnostic colonoscopy was 0.6% (95% confidence interval 0.2-1.3%) and by polypectomy 0.7% (95% confidence interval 0.2-1.8%). Six patients with Crohn's disease had colonic intraluminal multilobulated masses detected on barium enema. Four had Crohn's colitis and two ileocolitis. The mean duration of disease was four and eight tenths years. Three patients underwent surgery and three had colonoscopy with multiple biopsies and cytology. A 25-year-old Nigerian black woman was found to have polyps involving the rectum, rectosigmoid, and sigmoid colon on air-contrast barium-enema examination. AIM: Inflammatory fibroid polyp (IFP) is a rare benign lesion that may occur throughout the digestive tract. IFP is more commonly found in the antrum of the stomach in particular. It mostly affects adults at the average age of 60 years. These polyps are able to cause abdominal pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, intestinal obstruction or intussusception. BACKGROUND: The prevalence of colorectal polyps and adenomas in the general population of Mexico is unknown.
AIM: To determine the prevalence and risk factors for colorectal polyps detected during flexible sigmoidoscopy (FSIG) in asymptomatic patients.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: From 1995 to 2008, FSIG was performed as part of a complete check-up in patients who had lived in northeast Mexico for over 5 years.
RESULTS: 946 (794 males/152 females) were included in the study. The mean age was 48.8 years (range 21-91). A family history of colorectal cancer (FHCRC) was present in 2.2 % of the cases.

Analysis of relative polyp locations in 426 consecutive patients with multiple colonic polyps found on colonoscopy showed novel findings. First, synchronous and metachronous neoplastic polyps showed spatial clustering in individual patients.
