BACKGROUND: Diabetic foot ulcers are chronic wounds that are difficult to heal, with a high rate of recurrent hospitalizations. Due to its multifactorial complexity, treatment must be considered as multidisciplinary, with adjuvant therapy required to aid the healing process.
OBJECTIVES: To identify physiotherapeutic interventions for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers through a systematic literature review.
DATA SOURCES: PubMed, Cochrane Library, SciELO and Web of Science were searched in April 2020.

BACKGROUND: The prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) has been continuously increasing, and this trend is projected to continue. CVD is rapidly becoming a significant public health issue. Every year there is a spike in hospital cases of CVD, a critical health concern in lower- and middle-income countries. Based on identification of novel biomarkers, it would be necessary to study and evaluate the diagnostic requirements or CVD to expedite early detection.
MAIN BODY: The literature review was written using a wide range of sources, such as well-known medical journals, electronic databases,

Ventriculo-peritoneal shunt placement is the most commonly performed procedure for the treatment of hydrocephalus. The complication of migration of the distal ventriculo-peritoneal shunt is one of the many complications that occur after ventriculo-peritoneal shunt placement. The migration of the ventriculo-peritoneal shunt through the vagina is infrequently reported in children. The aim of this review is to help all the providers caring for children with ventriculo-peritoneal shunts to identify issues early when encountered with this complication and thus limit morbidity and mortality. We revi

Background: "Triple whammy" (TW) refers to the simultaneous use of diuretics, renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). To date, the risk of developing acute kidney injury (AKI) associated to this combination has not been deeply investigated. The objectives are to analyze the incidence of AKI associated to the exposure to "triple whammy" including all NSAIDs versus non-exposure to this combination. Secondarily, the risk of hospitalization, severe adverse events, requirement of renal replacement therapy and mortality will be assessed. Als

Clinical predictive models (CPM) serve to identify and categorize patients into risk categories to assist in treatment and intervention recommendations. Predictive accuracy and practicality of models varies depending on methods used for their development, and should be evaluated. The aim of this study was to summarize currently available CPM for invasive candidiasis, analyze their performance, and assess their suitability for use in clinical decision making. We identified studies that described the construction of a CPM for invasive candidiasis from PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, SCOPUS, Web of Scien

INTRODUCTION: Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an acquired hemorrhagic disease due to antiplatelet antibodies, that will become a chronic disease in 70% of adults. Most of chronic ITP patients display clonal restriction of antiplatelet antibodies. To date, there is no biomarker able to predict the evolution of the disease. The objective of the study is to determine whether Hevylite® and/or Freelite® assays are prognostic factors for progression to chronic ITP.
METHODS: This is a retrospective, monocentric, prognostic study of a biomarker, performed using frozen samples stored in a serum libra
