Oral cancer treatment involving the maxilla and/or mandible often results in esthetic and functional deficits that can diminish the patient's quality of life. As a result, expeditious reconstruction of the defect and dental rehabilitation is desirable. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the dental prosthetic rehabilitation (DPR) in patients after jaw reconstruction with fibula free flap. Four databases were searched from January 2000 to January 2023. Of the 2507 studies identified, 36 observational studies were included. Cancer was the most common surgical indications for jawbone resection with 58.3 % of cases followed by benign tumours which representing 24 %. This paper reports on an alternative treatment method for mandibular reconstruction in a very rare symptomatic adult form of fibrous dysplasia. The treatment included excision of all the dysplastic tissue excluding the inner cortex and the lower border of the mandible, where cryosurgery was applied. In this study, we report a novel reconstructive procedure for mandibular defects following resection. From 2021 to 2025, a single fibular osteocutaneous flap, folded in half while preserving its blood supply, was performed in 7 patients.
