PURPOSE: The aim of this CT-based study was to investigate the frequency of splenic infarction (SI) following conventional open gastrectomy performed for gastric malignant neoplasms.

Two cases of simultaneous occurrence of oncocytoma (OC) associated with small B-cell lymphoma in the same kidney were investigated. A retrospective study of 35 patients with small bowel neoplasms studied by computed tomography (CT) was performed. The tumor detection rate was 80%. Using the findings reported in the literature, an adequate histological diagnosis could be performed in 69% of the cases by CT. Lipomas, leiomyomas, leiomyosarcomas, and carcinoid tumors were well-recognized, but adenocarcinomas and lymphomas were often mistaken one for the other. The data on 80 cases of ovarian dysgerminoma are presented. The average age of patients was 19.1. In 9 out of 18 menstruation--free patients dysgerminoma was associated with genital infantilism and intersexuality. Pain was the most frequent symptom (70%). Experience with 47 patients with head and neck carcinoma operated after preoperative megavoltage irradiation of about 3 000 rads over 3 weeks is reported. The 3-year survival for the series was 25/47 (53%), for the cases of Stages I--II 13/19 (68%) and Stages III--IV 12/28 (43%). Liposarcoma is a soft tissue neoplasm that commonly develops in the lower extremities and rarely in the head and neck region. Herein, we report the case of a patient with primary liposarcoma that was detected in the mastoid antrum during staged tympanoplasty for cholesteatoma. The tumor adjacent to the attic cholesteatoma was resected completely, and the pathological diagnosis was that of myxoid-type liposarcoma. Because positron emission tomography after the surgery showed no signs of tumor remnants or systemic metastasis, a second-stage surgery was performed 8 months after the first surgery.
