BACKGROUND: Radical prostatectomy reduces mortality among men with localized prostate cancer; however, important questions regarding long-term benefit remain.
METHODS: Between 1989 and 1999, we randomly assigned 695 men with early prostate cancer to watchful waiting or radical prostatectomy and followed them through the end of 2012. The primary end points in the Scandinavian Prostate Cancer Group Study Number 4 (SPCG-4) were death from any cause, death from prostate cancer, and the risk of metastases. Secondary end points included the initiation of androgen-deprivation therapy.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: A common neurosurgical procedure is the placement of an external ventricular drain (EVD), often as a time-sensitive treatment for hydrocephalus and/or increased intracranial pressure. The etiology ranges from traumatic brain injury to spontaneous intracranial hemorrhages, frequently causing change to ventricular anatomy, making them difficult targets. INTRODUCTION: Increases in bacterial sexually transmitted infections (bac-STIs), such as gonorrhoea, chlamydia and syphilis, have affected gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (gbMSM). A new strategy to prevent bac-STIs involves giving doxycycline as postexposure prophylaxis (doxy-PEP), and research shows that this intervention can prevent chlamydia and syphilis by 70% and gonorrhoea by 33%-50%. Consequently, the US CDC released guidelines in 2024 recommending doxy-PEP for gbMSM with ≥1 bacterial STI diagnosis in the previous 12 months.

In this study, we have analysed the treatment traditions in a dermatological outpatient clinic, from a gender perspective. Eczema and psoriasis were of similar frequency in male and female patients, while a higher number of female patients had eczema of the hands.
