Many tumors that occasionally are benign in origin causes hypophosphatemic osteomalacia. Here we present a case of glomus tumor in a 59-year-old man with oncogenic osteomalacia. Diagnosis was made after observation of abnormal increase activity in octreotide scan. The magnetic resonance imaging showed a round lesion in left ankle joint. Surgical excision of tumor was curative and all symptoms and intractable hypophosphatemia improved after few weeks.

A human immunodeficiency virus-infected individual developed severe secretory diarrhea due to infection with Staphylococcus aureus. When octreotide therapy was initiated, a toxic shock-like syndrome developed that was associated with fever, multisystem organ damage, and ultimately, desquamation of the palms and soles. The isolate was methicillin susceptible and produced enterotoxins B and C. This is, to our knowledge, the first reported case of toxic shock syndrome to develop secondary to staphylococcal enterocolitis in an adult.

Acromegaly is a disease caused by a pituitary tumor (somatotropinoma) or by ectopic secretion of GH or IGF-1. About 15% of tumors secrete not only GH but PRL as well. Last time a lanreotide and an octreotide (the somatostatine analogues) are useful in the therapy of acromegaly. We observed the influence of the lanreotide on GH and prolactin. We noticed that the lanreotide caused not only serum level reduction of a growth hormone but also prolactine in patients with mixed pituitary tumors.

The carcinoid syndrome is a result of the release of multiple carcinoid tumor factors, particularly serotonin, kinins, and histamine. These factors cause flushing, hemodynamic instability, right-sided heart disease, bronchospasm, and gastrointestinal symptoms. A through preoperative assessment concentrating on these areas is necessary. The use of invasive monitors perioperatively, with the avoidance of drugs and techniques that can exacerbate the syndrome, is beneficial. Octreotide, both prophylactically and acutely, provides the best medical therapy available.

A patient with cystic dystrophy in heterotopic pancreatic tissue, localized in the second duodenum, is described. Diagnosis was assessed by computed tomography, endosonography and magnetic nuclear resonance (MNR). Medical treatment with octreotid during three weeks was effective but duodenal stenosis persisted. Finally, pylorus preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy was performed. Microscopy examination confirmed the diagnosis and the efficiency of medical treatment. A review of the literature about cystic dystrophy is done.

Diffuse involvement of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (PNET) is a rare presentation. Here, we report a case of suspected autoimmune pancreatitis with 18 F-FDG and 18 F-FAPI-42 PET/CT showing increased tracer uptake in the entire pancreas, which was eventually confirmed by biopsy pathologic analysis as diffuse PNET. 18 F-AlF-NOTA-octreotide PET/CT imaging showed heterogeneous tracer uptake in the entire pancreas.

Somatostatin (SST), an inhibitory polypeptide with two biologically active forms SST14 and SST28, inhibits GH, prolactin (PRL), TSH, and ACTH secretion in the anterior pituitary gland. We report a 75-year-old woman with a severe and symptomatic valvular tricuspid dysfunction, revealing a carcinoid syndrome, confirmed by an octreotid scan and liver biopsy. Carcinoid heart disease is a common complication of carcinoid syndrome associated with poor prognosis. Despite new pharmacological treatment, valve replacement surgery is the only curative treatment. Early diagnosis and multidisciplinary management could improve prognosis and quality of life of these patients.

A 65-year-old female was admitted with leg edema by retroperitoneal fibrosis and tricuspid valve incompetence by fibrosis, cutaneous fibrosis, moderate flushing over the upper body without diarrhea. It revealed an ileal carcinoid tumor with hepatic metastases. Octreotide (Sandostatine), tumor excision and interferon alpha 2b treatment led to a regression of flushing and edema, a reduction of fibrosis and a stabilization of the metastatic carcinoid, with normal serotonin levels.
