Lesions in 21 mink which died of Aujeszky's disease included hemorrhages in lungs, heart, mediastinum, thymus, diaphragm, gastric wall, pancreas, and enteric wall. Microscopically, hyalin and fibrinoid degeneration and necrosis of vessel walls were present in cardiac muscle, brain, gastrointestinal wall and occasionally elsewhere in the body. Liver function has been evaluated in 74 patients (aged 9 months to 19 years) with beta-thalassemia major. They were selected from 212 patients because their transaminase levels were three times higher than normal for over three months. In 36 of these subjects BSF clearance test was performed. Various cardiovascular complications are among the major causes of mortality in renal transplant recipients. The authors examined the cardiovascular findings from necropsy of 18 renal transplant patients. All but three of the patients showed one or more pathological abnormalities. The prevalence of tubal pregnancy has increased markedly during the past decade. The reasons for this are obscure. A systematic gross and histopathologic study of 25 consecutive ectopic pregnancies has been performed using a clearing method not used previously for this purpose. We evaluated the isoform composition of heavy and light chains of myosin in single muscle fibers from patients with Duchenne dystrophy, myotonic dystrophy, or polymyositis. Pathological changes in eyes containing intraocular lenses were studied in the 28 specimens which constitute the collection of eyes with intraocular lenses at Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis. Except for an occasional nest of lymphocytes, local areas of tissue thinning and fibrous reaction where there had been tissue compression, the striking finding in these eyes has been the lack of pathological response. Most of them showed a significant loss of endothelial cells but none had clinical corneal dystrophy.

The morphology of S-antigen-induced uveoretinitis in guinea pigs has been studied using transmission electron microscopy. Purified bovine retinal S-antigen was shown to produce a focal chorioretinitis, characterized by selective damage to the outer retina and, almost exclusively, a mononuclear cell infiltration of the choroid and retina. One hundred consecutive patients with a clinical suspicion of metabolic inner ear disorder were submitted to a 5-hour glucose tolerance test with simultaneous titration of insulin. It was found that 82% of the patients presented abnormal glucose and/or insulin values.
