Hyaline fibromatosis syndrome (HFS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by hyaline fibrous depositions in the skin and internal organs. Contractured joints and gingival hypertrophy make airway management difficult in patients with HFS, while trunk deformities complicate surgical positioning. Primary angiosarcomas arising from the alimentary tract are rare and only a few cases have been reported in the literature. We report a case of an angiosarcoma of the sigmoid colon with intraperitoneal bleeding but not rectal bleeding. Haemangiopericytoma is a rare, vascular soft tissue tumour originating from the pericytes surrounding capillaries. We report a case of haemangiopericytoma in the sigmoid mesocolon and are aware of only one previously case. A 61-year-old man was referred with a left iliac fossa mass. Abdominal wall abscess is a rare presentation of intra-abdominal disease. We describe a 69-year-old woman with a locally advanced carcinoma of the sigmoid colon presenting as abdominal wall abscess. The diagnosis was suggested by computed tomography of the abdomen. She was treated with resection of the tumor with closure of the rectal stump and proximal end colostomy. No adjuvant therapy was undertaken considering the extent of the disease. She survived for four months after the operation.

We gave anesthesia to a 60-year-old female patient in stage III (end stage) of Alzheimer's disease for sigmoidectomy. She had myoclonus and parkinsonism and it was not possible to communicate with her verbally. After induction of anesthesia with thiopental, she had a catheter inserted into epidural space. Extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP) of the small bowel is a rare entity previously reported as a cause of intestinal obstruction or bleeding. A case report of this disease entity presenting as an ileocolic fistula is reported. EMP is diagnosed by the following criteria: 1) absence of paraproteinemia; 2) absence of Bence Jones proteinuria; 3) normal skeletal survey; and 4) normal bone marrow biopsy specimen. We performed reversal of the Hartmann procedure only through the stoma site and we did not use either any other incision nor laparoscopic assistance. A total of 8 patients (7 males), ages between 23 and 80 years, were treated by means of a defined technique. A novel approach to photodynamic therapy (PDT) involves endogenous photosensitization by the oral administration of delta-aminolevulinic acid (ALA), a naturally occurring substance that is the precursor of protoporphyrin IX (PpIX). The thymidylate synthase (TS) inhibition rate was measured after tegafur (FT) administration (1.5 g/day, at least 10 days) in 7 sigmoid colon cancer patients. The TS inhibition rate decreased as the interval between the time of the last administration and the time of the tumor resection increased longer. This study provides basic data for considering methods of drug administration and assessment of modification, for example, by leucovorin.
