BACKGROUND: Although the frequency of social phobia is high among alcoholic patients, this anxiety disorder is often neglected because treatment tends to be focused exclusively on alcohol dependence.

Perinatal grief following stillbirth is a significant social and mental health burden. We examined associations among the following latent variables: autonomy, social norms, self-despair, strained coping, and acute grief-among poor, rural women in India who experienced stillbirth. Examined the factor structure of the Profile of Mood States (POMS) in samples of psychiatric outpatients (N = 165) and adult smokers (N = 298).
