INTRODUCTION: Though the research on the quality of life of people who stutter is extensive, there is minimal research on cluttering's life impact. Anecdotal reports from people who clutter1 and their significant others have described some elements of cluttering's impact and advocated for these components to be addressed in treatment. Three formal studies have used semistructured interviews to document cluttering's impact. This case study reports the findings of auditory behavioral and electrophysiological measures performed on a graduate student (identified as LN) presenting verbal disfluency and learning difficulties. Results of behavioral audiological testing documented the presence of auditory processing disorders, particularly temporal processing and binaural integration. Electrophysiological test results, including middle latency, late latency and cognitive potentials, revealed that LN's central auditory system processes acoustic stimuli differently to a reference group with normal hearing.

Spastic dysphonia is a clinical speech disorder characterized by spasms of the laryngeal muscles during phonation, producing a broken pattern of speech sometimes termed laryngeal stuttering.
