BACKGROUND: Onycholysis occurs in approximately 30% of patients treated with docetaxel. The efficacy and safety of an Elasto-Gel frozen sock (FS) was investigated for the prevention of docetaxel-induced nail and skin toxicity of the feet.

A 35-year-old woman with taxane and anthracycline-resistant recurrent breast cancer with multiple lung metastasis and carcinomatous lymphangitis was treated with CMF as third-line chemotherapy. DESIGN: Retrospective nonrandomized comparative trial.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Eighteen patients enrolled in a phase II study of weekly docetaxel plus trastuzumab and 18 patients enrolled in a phase II study of every-3-weeks docetaxel plus doxorubicin were evaluated. OBJECTIVE: The authors studied 6 cases of osseous leiomyosarcoma of the spine. Two of these cases were of immunocompromised human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive patients with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-associated primary vertebral leiomyosarcomas.
