Leiomyosarcoma of the scrotum is a rare tumor. Up to 1999, only 29 cases have been reported in the literature worldwide. A 27-year-old man presented with a mass on the left side of the scrotum which had been painless and had gradually enlarged over the previous 10 years. During the following 3 months, however, it became painful and he was then referred to our hospital. BACKGROUND: Congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens (CBAVD) is an important cause of obstructive azoospermia and male infertility. Mutations of CFTR caused the majority of CBAVD cases, and ADGRG2 was recently identified as a new pathogenic gene. Yet, most of the genetic evidence came from sporadic cases, and only one mutation in CFTR can be found in patients.

Based on a review of operative notes of recurrent inguinal hernia cases from the authors' primary series, a surgical technique modified from the Marcy repair is described. With this technique, emphasis is placed on preservation of the intact internal spermatic fascia and reduction in the size of the internal inguinal ring. Through the inguinal approach, the sleeve-like extension of the internal spermatic fascia is incised longitudinally along the cord and up to the internal ring. From 5/88 to 8/93 148 patients were operated on for obstructive azoospermia using a microsurgical technique. In 68 patients we performed a vasectomy reversal by vasovasostomy (VT), 42 patients underwent a tubulovasostomy (TT), and 8 patients had a VT with contralateral TT. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is caused by mutation in the CFTR (cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator) gene. CF is characterised by chronic lung infections, pancreas insufficiency and, in males, congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens (CBAVD).
