OBJECTIVE: To determine if topical application of naltrexone hydrochloride (NTX), an opioid antagonist, restores tear production and corneal sensation in rats with diabetes mellitus.
METHODS: Type 1 diabetes was induced with streptozotocin in rats. Tear production was measured by the Schirmer test, and corneal sensitivity, by an esthesiometer. A woman in her 50s with HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2) positive, estrogen/progesterone receptor negative, metastatic invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast, presented with acral cyanosis and severe throbbing pain after recent administration of gemcitabine. She was treated with aspirin, heparin, amlodipine, topical nitroglycerin and analgesics. Gemcitabine was discontinued permanently. She had a gradual recovery except for a small necrotic area over the right 4th digit. However, surgical intervention was avoided.

Correct diagnosis in patients with side effect during benzylpenicillin (penicillin G) treatment is highly problematic. It is accepted, that hypersensitivity to penicillin is overdiagnosed. Very little qualitative information is available on the diagnostic and differentiation of penicillin allergy. On present stage it is not techniques permitting to exclude anaphylaxis. This paper describe topical knowledge about risks administration of benzylpenicillin to patients suspected of penicillin hypersensitivity. Precious advice in diagnostic procedures and therapeutic management was given.

Mycosis fungoides (MF), CD4(+) epidermotropic cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL), often arises as indolent, inflammatory, chronic, persistent patches and plaques. 98 patients, 50 suffering from papular lichen planus of the skin, 48 suffering from hypertrophic lichen planus, were treated systemically or topically with vitamin A acid. In 52 out of the 98 patients, the treatment was started within the first 3 months after the beginning of the disease.
