Ultrafast exciton-polaron dynamics in moiré superlattices.

We develop a fully computational framework to simulate exciton-polaron-polariton formation in moiré superlattices under strong light-matter coupling. The model combines parametrized moiré potentials with analytical cavity representations and non-Hermitian quantum propagation to capture hybridization between moiré-confined excitons and cavity photons. The present model uses a reduced first-harmonic parametrization of the moiré potential and omits atomic-scale reconstruction and material-specific microscopic details. Even so, it captures the leading energy modulation and provides qualitative pol

Stable Low-Voltage Organic Memristors Enabled by Templated Crystallization and Quantum-Dot-Regulated Filament Formation.

Organic memristors are attractive building blocks for neuromorphic computing owing to their intrinsic synaptic functionalities and solution-processability. However, their operational instability remains a major challenge, primarily arising from poorly controlled semiconductor crystallization and stochastic conductive filament formation. Here, we report a high-performance solution-processed organic memristor based on a TIPS-pentacene/PMMA/CdSe-ZnS quantum-dot hybrid system, in which a dual-engineering strategy is employed to simultaneously regulate film crystallization and filament dynamics. Recent Advances in Boswellic Acids as Anticancer Agents: Therapeutic Effects, SAR, and Computational Approaches.

The employment of phytomolecules to treat cancer has become widespread in recent decades. Boswellic acids (BAs) are pentacyclic triterpenoids obtained from Boswellia oleo-gum resins. BAs are the primary active constituents of Boswellia resins and exhibit potent anticancer activity against numerous cancer cell lines. Consequently, they have garnered considerable attention as prominent anti-cancer agents. However, the pharmacokinetic characteristics of BAs, such as their low bioavailability and poor water solubility, pose significant barriers that limit their medicinal use. The aim of this revie

Metaheuristic-Optimized Convolutional Neural Network for Automated Diagnosis of Viral Pneumonia and Tuberculosis from Chest X-Rays.

Background: Viral Pneumonia and Tuberculosis continue to represent a significant burden on global public health, relying heavily on chest X-rays for screening and diagnosis. Although deep learning systems offer promising diagnostic support, the traditional manual tuning of hyperparameters for Convolutional Neural Networks is often inefficient and computationally expensive, frequently resulting in suboptimal or overly heavy architectures. Methods: To address these challenges, this study proposes a hybrid framework that employs metaheuristic algorithms, specifically the Whale Optimization Algori

The Circular RNA hsa_circ_0004771 Regulates the Intracellular Survival of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Macrophages by Targeting hsa-miR-3921 to Increase TREM1 Expression.

The interactions among the host's circular RNAs (circRNAs), microRNAs (miRNAs), and target genes are crucial for antibacterial resistance and intracellular pathogen clearance. However, this process remains poorly understood during Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb) infection. Our previous study identified hsa_circ_000477, a novel circRNA formed by the NRIP1 gene on human chromosome 21, which was upregulated in M.tb-infected THP-1 macrophages. The present study systematically investigated the effect of hsa_circ_0004771 on M.tb infection and the underlying molecular mechanism. First, hsa_circ_000

STar-DETR: A Lightweight Real-Time Detection Transformer for Space Targets in Optical Sensor Systems.

Optical sensor systems are essential for space target detection. However, previous studies have prioritized detection accuracy over model efficiency, limiting their deployment on resource-constrained sensors. To address this issue, we propose the lightweight space target real-time detection transformer (STar-DETR), which achieves a balance between model efficiency and detection accuracy. First, the improved MobileNetv4 (IMNv4) backbone network is developed to significantly reduce the model's parameters and computational complexity. Second, group shuffle convolution (GSConv) is incorporated int

Influence of different implant designs on stress distributions in all-on-four concept: A finite element analysis.

The study aims to investigate the effect of different implant designs on stress distribution on the implant and mandibular bone in the All-on-four treatment concept using three-dimensional (3D) finite element analysis (FEA). A 3D FEA model was constructed based on the edentulous mandible's mean value. Eight different implant designs, consisting of two main groups with conical and cylindrical body geometry and four subgroups with four different thread designs, v-shaped, square, buttress, and reversible buttress in each group, were experimentally created in a computer environment. A YOLO-Based Model for Detecting Stored-Grain Insects on Surface of Grain Bulks.

Accurate, rapid, and intelligent stored-grain insect detection and counting are important for integrated pest management (IPM). Existing stored-grain insect pest detection models are often not suitable for detecting tiny insects on the surface of grain bulks and often require high computing resources and computational memory. Therefore, this study presents a YOLO-SGInsects model based on YOLOv8s for tiny stored-grain insect detection on the surface of grain bulk by adding a tiny object detection layer (TODL), adjusting the neck network with an asymptotic feature pyramid network (AFPN), and inc

Hybrid Supervised and Reinforcement Learning for Motion-Sickness-Aware Path Tracking in Autonomous Vehicles.

Path tracking is an essential task for autonomous driving (AD), for which controllers are designed to issue commands so that vehicles will follow the path of upper-level decision planning properly to ensure operational safety, comfort, and efficiency. Current path-tracking methods still face challenges in balancing tracking accuracy with computational overhead, and more critically, lack consideration for Motion Sickness (MS) mitigation. However, as AD applications divert occupants' attention to non-driving activities at varying degrees, MS in self-driving vehicles has been significantly exacer

Analysis of developmental gene expression using smFISH and in silico staging of C. elegans embryos.

Regulation of transcription during embryogenesis is key to development and differentiation. To study transcript expression throughout Caenorhabditis elegans embryogenesis at single-molecule resolution, we developed a high-throughput single-molecule fluorescence in situ hybridization (smFISH) method that relies on computational methods to developmentally stage embryos and quantify individual mRNA molecules in single embryos. We applied our system to sdc-2, a zygotically transcribed gene essential for hermaphrodite development and dosage compensation. We found that sdc-2 is rapidly activated dur

3D biplanar reconstruction of lower limbs using nonlinear statistical models.

Three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of lower limbs is of great interest in surgical planning, computer assisted surgery, and for biomechanical applications. The use of 3D imaging modalities such as computed tomography (CT) scan and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has limitations such as high radiation and expense. Therefore, three-dimensional reconstruction methods from biplanar X-ray images represent an attractive alternative. In this paper, we present a new unsupervised 3D reconstruction method for the patella, talus, and pelvis using calibrated biplanar (45- and 135-degree oblique) radio

Solute Transport across the Lymphatic Vasculature in a Soft Skin Tissue.

Convective transport of drug solutes in biological tissues is regulated by the interstitial fluid pressure, which plays a crucial role in drug absorption into the lymphatic system through the subcutaneous (SC) injection. In this paper, an approximate continuum poroelasticity model is developed to simulate the pressure evolution in the soft porous tissue during an SC injection. This poroelastic model mimics the deformation of the tissue by introducing the time variation of the interstitial fluid pressure. The advantage of this method lies in its computational time efficiency and simplicity, and

Fluid-structure interaction simulation of calcified aortic valve stenosis.

Calcified aortic valve stenosis (CAVS) is caused by calcium buildup and tissue thickening that impede the blood flow from left ventricle (LV) to aorta. In recent years, CAVS has become one of the most common cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to study the mechanics of aortic valve (AV) caused by calcification. In this paper, based on a previous idealized AV model, the hybrid immersed boundary/finite element method (IB/FE) is used to study AV dynamics and hemodynamic performance under normal and calcified conditions. The computational CAVS model is realized by dividing the AV l

Comprehensive evaluation and efficient classification of BRCA1 RING domain missense substitutions.

BRCA1 is a high-risk susceptibility gene for breast and ovarian cancer. Pathogenic protein-truncating variants are scattered across the open reading frame, but all known missense substitutions that are pathogenic because of missense dysfunction are located in either the amino-terminal RING domain or the carboxy-terminal BRCT domain. Heterodimerization of the BRCA1 and BARD1 RING domains is a molecularly defined obligate activity. Hence, we tested every BRCA1 RING domain missense substitution that can be created by a single nucleotide change for heterodimerization with BARD1 in a mammalian two-

Sequential numerical simulation of vascular remodeling and thrombosis in unconventional hybrid repair of ruptured middle aortic syndrome.

Unconventional surgical procedures may be utilized in treating complicated middle aortic syndrome (MAS), the outcome and prognosis of which remain largely undetermined due to limited numbers and significant heterogeneity of this population. Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis, this study aimed to assess the dynamic changes of postoperative aortic flow in seeking to unveil the relationship between hemodynamics and vascular remodeling and thrombotic events. One patient with middle aortic syndrome complicated with aortic rupture was treated with hybrid repair of extra-anatomic bypas
