The aim of this study was to investigate the effect CS2 of on human sperm chromosomal aberration. The human sperm/hamster egg fusion technique was used to analyze 203 human sperm chromosome complement from 9 healthy volunteers. The incidence of numerical aberration was 1.0% and that of structural chromosome aberration was 5.9% and total abnormalities was 6.9%. Artichoke, a new Bulgarian preparation based on the plant Cynara scolymus, was tested for influence on sympatho-adrenal system (SAS) activity in experimental inhalation exposure to carbon disulfide. Lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (Armstrong strain) bears two overlapping epitopes, GP-1A (A) and GP-1D (D), recognized by neutralizing antibodies on the major surface glycoprotein GP-1. Oral pretreatment with diethyldithiocarbamate (DTC) and carbon disulfide (CS2) prevented mice from methemoglobinemia induced by phenacetin. This treatment resulted in marked elevation of plasma p-phenetidine concentrations, prolongation of phenacetin levels, and lowering of N-acetyl-p-aminophenol and p-aminophenol levels. The authors observed Wistar rats exposed to the various concentrations of carbon disulphide. They studied as the histological tissue changes as brain GABA and polyamine levels. Disulfiram, diethyldithiocarbamate, and bis-(ethylxanthogen) inhibit symmetrical 1,2-dimethylhydrazine dihydrochloride (DMH)-induced neoplasia of the large bowel in female CF1 mice. These three compounds contain a carbon disulfide (CS2) moiety in their structure. In the present study, CS2 itself was found to inhibit DMH-induced neoplasia of the large bowel in female CF1 mice. Thus a relatively simple compound is now available for investigation of the mechanism of inhibition of DMH-induced neoplasia by a group of sulfur-containing inhibitors having common structural features.
