KFD (Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease, KFD) is an important cause of lymphadenitis in children. Here, we report three children with an emphasis on contrast-enhanced ultrasound (contrast-enhanced ultrasound, CEUS) for describing the features for pediatric Kikuchi cervical lymphadenopathy and evaluating lymph node perfusion. CEUS demonstrates significant diagnostic potential in the assessment of perfusion in lymph nodes.

Leprosy or Hansen's disease is a chronic infectious granulomatous disease with varied presentation, especially in the setting of lepra reactions. We report two such atypical presentations each of Type I and Type II Lepra reactions; the first being an elderly male presenting with fever, while the second case being of a young boy being evaluated for cervical lymphadenitis.

We present the case of a 51-year-old woman who presented a right supraclavicular mass corresponding to lymphadenitis with atypical mycobacterium (Mycobacterium genavense). Later, she developed subcutaneous purulent small nodules containing the same germ. The presence of this mycobacterium was in the context of recurrent peripheral T-cell lymphoma and immunosuppressive therapy for seronegative inflammatory polyarthritis.

Abdominal pain is uncommon in patient with Epstein-Barr infection and is usually attributed to an enlargement of the liver or spleen. We report on an 8-year-old girl with a pseudoperitonitis due to a mesenteric lymphadenitis associated with Epstein-Barr infection. Outcome was favourable without surgery. We review the different causes of abdominal pain occurring during Epstein-Barr infection.

The role of different imaging techniques in the assessment of musculoskeletal soft tissue infection will be reviewed in this article. As classification according to the causative agent is impossible with imaging, soft tissue infections will be classified in view of their location. Consecutively, musculoskeletal soft tissue infections of the joints, tendons and bursae, muscles, the skin and its related structures as well as infectious lymphadenitis and lymphangitis will be discussed.

Tularaemia is a zoonotic disease caused by Francisella tularensis . In this report, we have presented an early stage case of tularemia with fever and pharyngitis and two cases from the same non-endemic region with typical lymphadenitis. Histological examinations of mice infected with either a lethal (Karp) or a self-limitating (Gilliam) strain of Rickettsia tsutsugamushi were performed. Tingible body macrophages in the spleen and necrotizing lymphadenitis in regional lymph nodes were prominent only in the former. Apoptotic legions in the lymphocytes of these organs were clearly demonstrated by histochemical and electron microscopical examinations.

A 5-year-old boy with acute abdominal pain in the right lower quadrant and fever underwent open appendectomy following clinical observation and serial equivocal ultrasound. During exploration we encountered a normal-looking appendix but multiple enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes, suggestive of mesenteric lymphadenitis. The boy had an uneventful postoperative course and recovered completely.

We report the case of a girl with cervical lymphadenitis and a persistent primary lesion of cat scratch disease (CSD). Bartonella henselae DNA was isolated from plasma samples collected 3 and 4 months after the cat scratch, indicating that recurrent and long-term shedding of Bartonella DNA into peripheral blood may occur in typical CSD.

Eight out of 30 cases of Borderline Lepromatous and Lepromatous Leprosy suffering with chronic recurrent lepra reactions failed to respond to clofazimine therapy. Three of the eight were steroid dependent. All the eight patients are doing well after weaning off the clofazimine. An analysis of 110 cases of primary tuberculosis in Zambian children revealed that 47% of them had protein energy malnutrition. Of all pulmonary manifestations, simple primary tuberculosis was predominant followed by segmental lesions. A high incidence of extra pulmonary involvement mainly tuberculous lymphadenitis was observed. Previous BCG inoculation was not protective in 37 (33.6%) children.
