The case report is presented of a 34-year old man with the sudden appearance of multiple granulomas at the site of green tattoo markings which had been undertaken 8 years previously. Unusual was his case history of an anaphylactic reaction after the ingestion of green pistachio nuts. A non-immunological food intolerance without cross-reaction to the dye of the green tattoo namely phthalocyanine, was detected. Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) is a premalignant condition strongly associated with the practice of chewing areca nut, a habit common among South Asian population. It is characterised by inflammation, increased deposition of submucosal collagen and formation of fibrotic bands in the oral and paraoral tissues, which increasingly limit mouth opening. A case of OSMF occurring in a 9-year-old Indian girl is presented. This paper discusses the aetiology, clinical presentation and treatment modalities of oral submucous fibrosis.

We report the case of an 11-year-old girl with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue. This is a very rare disease in children with only a few cases reported in the literature. There is a great need to create awareness of the harmful and potentially lethal effects of chewing paan and betel nut not only in adults but also in children. Pediatricians and family physicians should also be aware of the possibility of this disease entity occurring at an earlier age so as to decrease delay in diagnosis and initiation of treatment.

The emergence of CT angiography (CTA) has a groundbreaking impact on the evaluation of renal vessels and is gradually replacing the conventional catheter angiography as the standard imaging procedure. In this review, we aimed to describe the renal CTA technique and imaging findings of several renal arterial (i.e. atherosclerosis, fibromuscular dysplasia, aneurysms of the renal arteries, dissection, vasculitidis, follow-up of patients with renal arterial stent) and venous (i.e. nut-cracker syndrome, pelvic congestion syndrome) pathologies.

This case report describes a patient who acquired a donor peanut allergy after lung transplantation. A 53-year-old woman with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency underwent left-sided lung transplant from a donor with a history of anaphylaxis to peanut. Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) is a potentially malignant condition associated with areca nut chewing. Formerly confined to the Indian subcontinent, it is now often seen in Asian populations of the United Kingdom, USA and other developed countries, and is therefore a serious problem for global health. What makes it more sinister is the malignant transformation rate, which has been reported to be around 7.6% over a 17-year period. In this concise article, we review the current trends in the pathophysiology of malignant transformation of OSMF.

Oral verrucous carcinoma (VC) is a variant of well differentiated oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) characterized by exophytic over growth. Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) is a potentially malignant disorder associated with chronic betel nut chewing habit. The development of OSCC is seen in one-third of the OSMF patients, but the development of VC is rare in such patients. There are very few cases of OSMF with VC reported in literature. Here, present a rare case of an elderly patient with VC in conjunction with OSMF.
