Two-dimensional magnitude squared coherence (2D-MSC) is developed to compare the two-valued time series which represent the center of pressure (COP) under each foot. A sinusoidal multiple taper spectral estimator is used to reduce bias and improve spectral resolution. INTRODUCTION: Movement disorders, when caused by ischemic stroke, may appear as initial manifestation or after a variable interval of time. Among postictal movement disorders tremor is an uncommon manifestation. Holmes' tremor, which is a mixed tremor, is the most frequent type of tremor after stroke. OBJECTIVE: We examined motion sickness in an oscillating virtual environment presented via a video projector system.
BACKGROUND: Visible oscillation of the physical environment is known to induce both postural instability and motion sickness, but it cannot be assumed that the same phenomena will occur in a virtual simulation of such motion.
METHOD: Standing participants (3 men and 9 women, 20-22 years of age) were exposed to oscillation of a virtual room. The stimulus was a computer-generated simulation of a laboratory device that is known to induce postural instability and motion sickness.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the prevalence and pathogenetic mechanisms of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).
PATIENTS AND METHODS: We reviewed the medical records of patients with POTS seen at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn, from January 1, 1993, through December 31, 2003. All patients were required to have had a full autonomic reflex screen. The results of the following additional tests were evaluated: thermoregulatory sweat test, plasma catecholamine measurement, serum ganglionic (a3) acetylcholine receptor antibody detection, and 24-hour urinary sodium measurement.

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the ventral intermediate nucleus (VIM) reduces tremor in people with essential tremor (ET), yet the dependence of tremor suppression on stimulation frequency remains unclear. A 33-year-old woman developed persistent postural headache following epidural anesthesia (L2-L3 level). Iohexol myelography (L5-S1 puncture) demonstrated no epidural extravasation of contrast material (Figure A), but subsequent computed tomography (CT) axial images (B, C) revealed leakage of dye through the needle track of the L5-S1 puncture (arrows). No leakage of contrast medium was found at the site of the L2-L3 epidural puncture.

W.) with a large-fibre sensory neuronopathy. I. We investigated whether postural instability can predict motion sickness and studied relations among instability, motion sickness, and vection. Nine men and 4 women (mean age = 19.85 years) were exposed, while standing, to an optical simulation of body sway. Head motion was recorded using a magnetic tracking system.
