The use of ophthalmic applicator containing Strontium-90 beta ray was used to bring about a change in I.O.P. by its effect on the ciliary body. The change in I.O.P. depends on the degree of damage done to the ciliary body. The study showed that the change in I.O.P. was directly proportional to the intensity of beta rays application - higher the dose of beta radiation more was the damage and more the reduction in I.O.P.

Rules and regulations of federal agencies and state radiation protection programs provide the bases for hospital policy regarding radiation safety for nurses. Nursing administrators should work with the radiation safety officer at their institutions to ensure that radiation exposures to staff nurses will be as low as reasonably achievable and that special consideration will be given to pregnant nurses. Nurses' fears about their exposure to radiation can be greatly reduced through education.

An analysis of 45 patients with seminoma of the testis treated at the Radiation Oncology Department of Crawford Long Hospital of Emory University, from 1975-1986. Severe stomatitis is a common problem encountered during either radiation therapy or chemotherapy. Most therapeutic regimens are empirical, with no scientific basis. Forty-eight ferrets (Mustela putorius furo) were individually head-shielded and radiated with bilateral 60Co gamma radiation at 100 cGy min-1 at doses ranging between 49 and 601 cGy. The emetic threshold was observed at 69 cGy, the ED50 was calculated at 77 cGy, and 100% incidence of emesis occurred at 201 cGy.
