Efficacy and safety of acupuncture treatment for depression: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: A common mental health issue with major worldwide repercussions is depression. Psychological therapy and pharmaceutical treatments are the mainstays of modern depression treatment approaches. Numerous clinical studies have investigated acupuncture's potential role in treating depression, which has led to its rise in popularity as a treatment. Clinical research on its effectiveness and safety, however, has produced conflicting results. By examining randomized controlled trials that compared acupuncture treatment with traditional medication therapy, this study sought to clarify the e

A Systematic Mapping Review of 525 Randomised Controlled Trials on Pharmacological and Non-pharmacological Interventions for People Living With Dementia and Their Formal and Informal Carers in Chinese Communities.

OBJECTIVES: Aligned with the World Health Organization's call for enhanced dementia research to inform national strategies, this systematic mapping review identifies critical gaps in the evidence base for Chinese populations. Representing over 20% of people living with dementia globally, this group remains underrepresented in the Western-centric research that currently guides best practices. This is the first study that comprehensively reviews evidence on dementia-related interventions trialled among participants identified as Chinese worldwide across both Chinese and English literature. It ad

Biologic Versus Synthetic Mesh in Ventral Hernia Repair: Are We There Yet? A Trial Sequential Analysis and Fragility Index of Randomized Clinical Trials.

INTRODUCTION: Ventral hernia repair (VHR) is one of the most frequently performed surgical procedures. However, the selection of the most appropriate mesh type remains a subject of considerable debate. Moreover, the current body of evidence regarding the choice of mesh for VHR in contaminated fields remains insufficient. Given these limitations, this study aims to systematically evaluate and analyze existing data on the comparative efficacy and safety of biologic versus synthetic mesh in VHR. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A comprehensive online search was conducted across databases (PubMed/MEDLINE,

Effectiveness and Safety of Virtual Reality Interventions for Symptom Management in Adults Undergoing Hemodialysis: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.

BACKGROUND: Adults receiving long-term hemodialysis often experience a multidimensional symptom burden that affects their functional status and daily activities. Effective symptom management may help reduce this burden, preserve functional status, and improve the overall treatment experience. However, evidence remains limited for nonpharmacological interventions that are safe, acceptable, and easy to integrate into routine hemodialysis care. Virtual reality (VR) may be a promising approach for symptom relief and supportive management, but its overall effectiveness and safety in adults receivin
