In the postoperative state, hypercaloric parenteral nutrition is not indicated in every patient where enteral nutrition is not feasible. Low caloric protein oriented peripheral venous parenteral feeding might be an alternative nutritional regimen in moderate catabolic postoperative states. A rare case of a colon cancer with a hepatomatous metastasis is reported. A 79 year old female was admitted hospital in April, 1988 with liver cirrhosis. On death in November, 1988, an autopsy revealed a primary, linitis plastica type diffuse adenocarcinoma of the total colon with an extensive metastases into lungs, kidneys, liver, small intestine, bladder, spleen, the bone marrow, and the lymph nodes. In the cirrhotic liver two hepatomatous nodules were found. As a focus of one of these nodules, there was a metastatic linitis plastica lesion of the colon.

Involvement of the colon by extraovarian peritoneal serous papillary carcinoma (EPSPC) is considered as rare. During a 10-year period the records of five female patients with a mean age of 73.4 years who were admitted for colonic obstruction due to EPSPC were reviewed. We report 2 cases of locally advanced colorectal cancer in which complete response(CR)was achieved after chemotherapy. Case 1 involved a 71-year-old male diagnosed with rectal cancer invading the bladder. Chemotherapy with SOX plus bevacizumab and IRIS plus bevacizumab was administered for rectal cancer. Urethral recurrence arising from a primary colorectal adenocarcinoma is rare. Here, we report a case of urethral recurrence of sigmoid colon cancer, which developed after cysto-prostato-sigmoidectomy for sigmoid colon cancer invading the bladder. The patient underwent urethrectomy successfully and is currently tumor-free. Surgeons who follow patients with colorectal cancer invading the bladder should be aware of this case. The early detection of recurrence improves the chances for disease-free survival.

Here we report 2 cases of curative resection following preoperative chemotherapy with bevacizumab for locally advanced colon cancer. Synchronous lymphoma and adenocarcinoma of the colon are extremely rare. A 32-year-old woman was referred to us for colon cancer. Investigations revealed two primary tumors, one in the cecum and the other in the sigmoid colon. Subtotal colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis was performed. Histology revealed the cecal tumor to be non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, diffuse small cell type with plasmacytoid features. The sigmoid colon tumor was moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. The patient received 6 cycles of chemotherapy postoperatively for lymphoma but died of recurrent disease after 17 months.

The use of intrarectally administered plain tap water as a contrast medium for CT scan of the rectum and sigmoid combined with iv iodine contrast medium was prospectively studied in 28 patients. This method allowed correct demonstration of mural wall abnormalities in all patients and therefore represents a simple, inexpensive, and efficient modality for CT study of the rectum and sigmoid.

Under analysis was material of treatment of 63 patients with gastric and colonic cancer complicated by acute peritonitis. An atypical asymptomatic course of the subreactive and a reactive forms of peritonitis is associated with pronounced inhibition of factors of antiinfection defense in elderly patients with the III-IV degrees of cancer. Complex stimulating therapy is indicated in the postoperative period because of immunodepression taking place after urgent operative interventions.
