The article is devoted to surgical treatment of perforating gastroduodenal ulcers. An investigation of remote results of palliative and radical interventions for the perforation of the stomach and duodenum in patients of young age has shown that recurrent ulcers after suturing the perforation take place in 67.2% of the people operated upon against 21% of those subjected to bilateral truncal subdiaphragmatic vagotomy with pyloroplasty. A subthreshold dose of carbachol was used to test gallbladder reaction in a series of patients before operation, after truncal vagotomy with antrectomy (TA) and after parietal cell vagotomy (PCV) because of duodenal ulcer. A small but statistically significant size reduction was seen before operation, a much higher reduction after TA and after PCV, that after TA being significantly higher than after PCV. It must be assumed that after PCV a number of gallbladders is in a state of denervation.

This study was designed to determine whether the surgical procedures for gastroduodenal ulcers influence sulfamethazine (SMZ) absorption and disposition. Prior to and on the average 79 days after surgery, eight patients received 10 mg kg-1 of sulfamethazine orally. Dynorphin-(1-13) (i.v.) induced bradycardia and hypotension in artificially ventilated anaesthetized rats. These effects were prevented by MRZ 2266 BS. The bradycardia was inhibited by bilateral vagotomy whereas the fall in blood pressure was not sensitive to bilateral vagotomy and chlorpheniramine treatment. In pithed rats, dynorphin-(1-13) reduced heart rate. This bradycardia was prevented by MRZ 2266 BS but not by tertatolol and cimetidine. It is suggested that the dynorphin-(1-13)-induced effects result from the stimulation of central and cardiac kappa-opiate receptors.

Rats were prepared with modified Heineke-Mikulicz pyloroplasty with longitudinal seromuscular incision, centering at pyloric ring, separation of submucosal layer around the pylorus and addition of transverse closure. This procedure combined with vagotomy was applied to the rats with cortisone administration and obstructive jaundice or exposure to the restraint plus cold water stress.
