Factors associated with lack of effective contraception among obese women in the United States.

OBJECTIVE: To identify factors associated with contraceptive nonuse and use of less effective methods among obese women in the US. We conducted multinomial logistic regression to assess associations between current contraceptive use and demographic, reproductive and health services factors. Specifically, we compared contraceptive nonusers, behavioral method users (withdrawal and fertility awareness) and barrier method users (condoms) to pr

Repetitive use of upper extremities, non-physiological body posture, especially of cervical spine, shoulders, lower arms, and fists are still present in modern technological processes. Innate deformities, weakness of connective tissue, accompanying morbidity (radicular symptoms, neuropathies, superior thoracic aperture syndrome, vasopathies and neuroses) are significant pathogenic overuse syndromes. Other causes of overuse syndromes are non-ergonomic tools, musical instruments, furniture, or keyboards. Lack of training for jobs involving repetitive movements, as well as job dissatisfaction are

Mental distress and risk of hip fracture. Do broken hearts lead to broken bones?

OBJECTIVE: Mental distress may entail increased risk of hip fracture, but it is uncertain whether the effect consists solely of an indirect effect through use of medication, or whether it is also mediated through other mechanism. The purpose of this study was to examine the association between mental distress and risk of hip fracture in women, adjusted for medication (that is, use of tranquillisers/sedatives or hypnotics). DESIGN: A three year follow up of hip fracture was conducted on 18,612 women, consisting of 92.5% of all women aged 50 years or older in a Norwegian county. Three hundred a

Is Pocket Pain Still a Major Issue in Spinal Cord Stimulation?

INTRODUCTION: Pocket pain is a recognized reason for dissatisfaction or revision after spinal cord stimulation (SCS). Historically, patients with pocket pain require revision or explantation. With the advent of smaller implantable pulse generators (IPGs), we investigated whether incidence of pocket pain and resultant revision has decreased. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to assess whether pocket pain incidence has decreased over time and correlate confounding variables. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We examined all patients who underwent placement of an SCS implant from January 2017 to June 2025. The

Multi-fragment Onlay Reconstruction in Forehead Contouring Surgery: A Novel Hardware-Free Technique for Frontal Sinus Remodeling.

BACKGROUND: Forehead contouring plays a pivotal role in craniofacial and aesthetic plastic surgery, particularly in patients undergoing facial feminization or seeking correction of frontal bossing. Traditional methods often rely on anterior frontal sinus wall osteotomy with titanium plate fixation, which, while effective, carries risks, such as foreign body reaction, infection, hardware palpability, and interference with natural bone healing. To address these limitations, we propose a hardware-free technique utilizing multi-fragment onlay reconstruction following sinus obliteration. METHODS:

Disordered eating in sexual and gender minority adults: the roles of gender variance, appearance anxiety, and internalized ideals.

INTRODUCTION: Sexual and gender minority (SGM) individuals face elevated risks for disordered eating and body image disturbances, shaped by minority stress, internalized beauty norms, and gendered societal expectations. This study examined (1) whether SGM individuals in Romania report higher levels of disordered eating than cisgender heterosexuals, and (2) whether appearance-related anxiety and internalized beauty ideals mediate the relationship between gender identity/expression and disordered eating within the SGM group. METHODS: A total of 270 Romanian adults (aged 18+), including 225 iden

Septum-Based Augmentation Mastopexy for Moderate to Severe Ptosis in Medium to Large Breasts: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

BACKGROUND: Augmentation mastopexy is complex due to the biomechanical conflict between lifting ptotic tissue and introducing volume with implants. In medium-sized to large breasts or in patients with poor tissue quality, the imbalance between native parenchyma and implant weight may lead to recurrent ptosis, bottoming out, and aesthetic dissatisfaction. Clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction after a septum-based parenchymal reduction technique combined with dual-plane augmentation were investigated. METHODS: The authors conducted a retrospective review of a multicenter database including

Assessment of the relation between orthorexia nervosa and self-esteem in high school students.

BACKGROUND: Orthorexia Nervosa is a condition characterized by an obsession with healthy eating that can negatively impact an individual's psychosocial functioning. The risk of developing orthorexia nervosa increases during adolescence due to environmental influences like social media and cultural norms. It is indicated that low self-esteem is linked to orthorexia nervosa, causing individuals to potentially use their fixation on healthy eating to seek social acceptance. This study aims to explore the connection between orthorexia nervosa and self-esteem among high school students. METHODS: In
