BACKGROUND: Ebstein's anomaly is the most commonly occurring congenital abnormality associated with the Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome. However, the effects of Ebstein's anomaly on the risks and benefits of surgical ablation of accessory pathways in patients with WPW syndrome are unknown.
METHODS AND RESULTS: This study compared the long-term outcome of 38 WPW patients with Ebstein's anomaly undergoing accessory pathway ablation to a reference population of 384 similarly treated patients without the anomaly. Ebstein's anomaly was mild in 21 patients (55%) and moderate-to-severe in 17 pa

An 80-year-old man with Ebstein's anomaly and ductus arteriosus aneurysm is reported. He was admitted with bradycardiac atrial fibrillation and right ventricular failure. For the control of brady-arrhythmia, a permanent pacemaker was implanted. Two-dimensional echocardiogram revealed distal displacement of the septal tricuspid valve. Aortography and computed tomography showed ductus arteriosus aneurysm. This is the first report of the association of Ebstein's anomaly and non-patent ductus arteriosus aneurysm.

A 30-year-old woman with Ebstein's anomaly presented with a sustained, wide QRS complex tachycardia exhibiting a left bundle branch block morphology. Serial electrophysiological studies revealed right and left bundle branch reentry tachycardias refractory to many conventional antiarrhythmic drugs. Radiofrequency and direct current catheter ablation of the right bundle branch failed to control the tachycardias. The patient subsequently underwent extensive endocardial cryoablation to the right bundle branch resulting in cure of her arrhythmia.

UNLABELLED: There are few data available on applying the cardiopulmonary exercise test for evaluation of cardiac exercise capacity in adult patients with congenital heart diseases. The aim of the study was to perform this test in adults with Ebstein anomaly and patients with patent ASD II (atrial septal defect) and determination of potential relationships between these parameters and echocardiographically assessed hemodynamic indices.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Twenty patients with Ebstein anomaly mean aged 40.3 +/- 12.3 years were studied. Control group consisted of 19 individuals at mean age of …

An 80-year-old patient with Ebstein anomaly and prior implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation was sent to our heart center because of right ventricular (RV)-ICD lead dislocation. Positioning of the new RV lead was difficult, no stable position could be found, and sensing and threshold measurements showed weak results in the RV basis, apex, and septum. So, we conducted positioning of the lead in the RV outflow tract where a stable position with good sensing and threshold parameters was found.

Ebstein's anomaly is a rare and complexed heart defect that affects the tricuspid valve and is accountable for around 1% of congenital cardiac abnormalities. It is one of the most common congenital causes of tricuspid valve regurgitation. Ebstein's anomaly is often diagnosed prenatally due to its severe cardiomegaly. Some individuals with this anomaly do not experience any complications until adulthood and even then its mostly minor complaints like exercise intolerance. Atrial septal defect is most commonly (70-90%) associated with Ebstein's anomaly. However, ventricular septal defect (VSD) c

BACKGROUND: Ebstein's anomaly (EA) is a congenital heart disorder involving tricuspid valve dysplasia and right heart abnormalities resulting in severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR). Multiple techniques assess regurgitation severity, but their correlation with EA severity markers remains unclear.
PURPOSE: To compare MRI techniques for quantifying TR and regurgitant volume (RVol) in adults with EA.
STUDY TYPE: Retrospective.
SUBJECTS: Thirty-three adult patients with EA (15 males/18 females).
FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE: 3T or 1.5-Tesla, 2D-phase contrast (2D-PC gradient echo) and 4D-flow (gradi

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the criteria, based on fetal TR waveforms in late gestation, to predict biventricular circulation (BV) after birth in cases of tricuspid valve dysplasia (TVD) or Ebstein's anomaly diagnosed during the fetal period.
METHODS: We included 35 consecutive cases diagnosed with TVD or Ebstein's anomaly during the fetal period between January 2008 and December 2021 at Kanagawa Children's Medical Center, Kanagawa, Japan. The maximum velocity and change in pressure over time of tricuspid regurgitation (TR) jet (dP/dt), estimated using TR waveforms obtained during the late-gest
