PURPOSE: In a retrospective study, we evaluated the complications in using the motility peg system (nonsleeved and sleeved) for hydroxyapatite orbital implants in an anophthalmic socket.
METHODS: Drilling for motility peg placement was performed in 265 patients with hydroxyapatite implantation: nonsleeved peg system (n = 191), sleeved peg system (n = 74). A statistical analysis was performed using the chi-square test.

Hard palate mucosa is thick and rigid. Grafted with its periosteal layer, it can be a supportive material. Simultaneously, wound healing of the palatal donor site is very rapid and the patient does not experience any pain. Such characteristics of the palatal mucosal graft have led to its use in reconstruction of the eyelids, including the tarsal plate. Nevertheless, there have been very few reports on its use in this are of the face. Herein we report the use of the palatal mucosal graft in reconstruction of the eye sockets.

A 66-year-old man who presented with anophthalmic enophthalmos desired improvement in his appearance without invasive surgery. A nonincisional technique for volume augmentation in the anophthalmic socket with injectable calcium hydroxylapatite was performed. Clinical improvement was determined by comparison of preoperative and 6-month postoperative exophthalmometry values and photographs. Injectable calcium hydroxylapatite successfully increased orbital volume in this anophthalmic patient.

The medialis pedis flap is a fasciocutaneous flap based on a branch of the medial plantar artery. Neuroepithelial tumors of the ciliary body occur more seldom than retinoblastoma. The congenital form is called medulloepithelioma, the adult-acquired adenoma or adenocarcinoma. Medulloepitheliomas consist of organoid epithelial structures developing anteriorly along surfaces such as the iris. Dracunculiasis, an infection caused by the nematode parasite, Dracunculus medinensis, usually affects the skin and subcutaneous tissue.
