[Use of aerosol A-300 amd GF/F (GF/C) filters for purifying fragments of DNA, plasmid DNA, and RNA].

Aerosil A-300 and GF/F (GF/C) filters were used for purifying plasmid DNA and intact RNA as well as for the recovery of DNA fractionated on agarose gels. In the presence of guanidinium thiocyanate Aerosil A-300 and GF/F (GF/C) filters selectively bind nucleic acids, while proteins, agarose polysaccharides and salts are washed off. Nucleic acids desorbed from the Aerosil and filters are available immediately as substrates: DNA for restriction analysis, ligation and sequencing; RNA--for RT-PCR.

The combined effect of preliminary dehydration of erythrocytes and the cationic amphiphilic compound, chlorpromazine, on the stability of cells to subsequent hyperosmotic effect, has been studied. A protective effect of chlorpromazine depending on the degree of initial cell dehydration and temperature was found. A comparative study of the hepatoprotective effect of carnosine and 4-methyluracil under CCl4-induced acute toxic hepatitis has been carried out. The extent of liver injury and its regeneration were established from morphological data as well as from changes in the activities of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and histidase and the bilirubin content in blood serum. Hyperlipoperoxidation in the liver and serum was assessed by the amount of TBA-active products. [Functioning of latrotoxin channels during pH changes].

Using the fluorescent probe BCECP, the pH dependence of Ca2+ transport in synaptosomes along alpha-latrotoxin-formed channels, was studied. It was found that the pH value in synaptosomes is equivalent to 7.16 +/- 0.09. Acidification or alkalinization of the intracellular medium by 0.1-0.3 pH units had no appreciable influence on the Ca2+ influx along latrotoxin-formed channels. Alteration of external pH caused a parallel shift in the cytoplasmic pH in the synaptosomes. The effects of tetrahydrofuran (THF) on rat liver microsomes in vitro and in vivo were opposite. [The effect of supplying rats with vitamin K and administration of pelentane on Na,K- and spectrin-dependent ATPase in erythrocyte ghosts].
