PURPOSE: The aim of this paper is to describe a simple method for severely contracted anophthalmic socket repair in which a silicone sphere is used as an expander for widening and deepening severely contracted conjunctival sacs.

BACKGROUND: Petroclival and foramen magnum meningiomas sometimes encase the vertebrobasilar arterial system. Magnetic resonance imaging can clearly reveal such encasement. The case presented here was of a meningioma involving the lower clivus and the foramen magnum, encasing a lateral segment of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA), despite the fact that no definitive diagnosis of the encasement of the PICA was made on preoperative radiological examination. METHODS: Optic nerve was transected about 2 mm posterior to the eye to establish experimental models of optic neuropathy. BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: There is no comprehensive and reliable model available in small animals that is suitable for the study of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Most of the existing models either require extensive surgery to achieve SAH or neglect the importance of an injury to the vessel and the impact of suddenly raised intracranial pressure (ICP). The presented model is designed to overcome these shortcomings.

We have developed a simple, fast, and efficient procedure to detect enteroviruses in water samples. Herpesvirus Movar 33/63 is the prototype strain of a group of slow growth bovine herpesviruses which have been reported to exhibit cytomegalovirus-like characteristics.
