Actin plays important roles in eukaryotic cell motility. During actin polymerization, the actin-bound ATP is hydrolyzed to ADP and P i. We carried out differential scanning calorimetry experiments to characterize the cooperativity of the stabilizing effect of phalloidin on actin filaments in their ADP.P i state. The ADP.P i state was mimicked by using ADP.BeF x or ADP.AlF 4. A novel sequential injection (SI) method was developed for the determination of penicillamine (PA) and ephedrine (EP) based on the reaction of these drugs with tris(bipyridyl)ruthenium(II) (Ru(bpy)(3)(2+)) and peroxydisulfate (S(2)O(8)(2-)) in the presence of light. The pentavalent antimonial meglumine (Glucantime) is the drug of choice in treatment of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Tunisia. It may create severe adverse effects. A ten year-old girl was treated by Glucantime for cutaneous leishmaniasis. On the eighth day of treatment, she developed palpitations and precordialgia. Ab initio theoretical evidence of hexacoordinate planar main group atoms centered in hexagonal hydrocopper complexes Cu(6)H(6)X (X = Si, P, As) is presented at the density functional theory level in this work. The results obtained extend the bonding capacity of silicon, phosphorus, and arsenic to planar hexacoordination in hydrocopper complexes which are important in fundamental research and may shed new insight into catalyst chemistry.

The title compound, [Cu(C7H5O3)2(C7H6N2)2]n, is a one-dimensional polymeric complex bridged by salicylate anions. The Cu(II) atom is surrounded by three salicylate and two benzimidazole ligands, with a tetragonally elongated octahedral coordination geometry. The Cu-O bond distances in the axial directions are 2.6092 (16) and 2.6834 (17) A. pi-pi stacking interactions exist between the benzimidazole rings of neighboring polymeric complex chains.

Mixtures of C5H6 and Fe(CO)5, Cr(CO)6, and Co2(CO)8 were irradiated in the gaseous phase with the P-20 line (944.21 cm-1) of a CW CO2 laser using SF6 as a sensitizer. The reaction products were metal particles and carbon monoxide, and in the C5H6/Fe(CO)5/SF6 mixture the iron dimer (C5H5)2Fe2(CO)4 was isolated.

Evidence for chromium(III) induced phosphorylation of a biomarker protein bovine serum albumin (BSA) is presented. Radiolabelled adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) was reacted with BSA in the presence of various Cr(III) salts. While [Cr(NH3)5(H2O)]3+ brought about phosphorylation of BSA, several Cr(III) complexes, viz. [Cr(bpy)3]3+, [Cr(phen)3]3+, [Cr(en)3]3+, [Cr(salen)(H2O)2]+ and [Cr(salprn)(H2O)2]+, did not phosphorylate BSA. The Cr(III) mediated the transfer of gamma- and alpha-phosphates but not the adenine and the sugar moieties of the ATP molecule to BSA. The observed stoichiometry was 0.

Of all drugs which can be effective in these situations, only three drugs (bismuth subsalicylate, psyllium, and docusate sodium) proved to be advantageous for self-medication.
