Eleven patients were given varying doses of cardioplegic solution contaminated with Enterobacter cloacae. Five patients died. Early bleeding, necessitating reoperation, occurred in eight patients and a total of 126 units of blood and 203 units of platelets were given (range 2 to 19 and 15 to 47 units, respectively). The effects of NaCl partially substituted by KCl, MgCl2, and KCl/MgCl2 on the gel characteristics, oral mastication, and in vitro gastric digestion of myofibrillar protein (MP) gel were investigated. A preparation for the maintenance of human Fallopian tubal epithelial cells as a polarized layer in primary culture was used to study the electrophysiological basis of tubal fluid formation in terms of the movement of Na+, K+ and Cl- ions. This work examines the synthesis of 3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine (MDMA) from common starting materials that may be utilised by clandestine laboratory operators.
