Reflex tearing during micturition and defecation is an unusual occurrence, with only a few documented cases in the literature. We present a case of a 46-year-old female who has experienced reflex tearing during both micturition and defecation since childhood. The patient sought advice from multiple ophthalmologists but found no effective solution. BACKGROUND: Trigeminocardiac reflex (TCR) is a vagal reflex produced by trigeminal nerve stimulation that causes bradycardia, hypotension, and, occasionally, cardiac arrest. TCR usually occurs during surgical manipulation of the posterior fossa. BACKGROUND: In intensive care patients with disorders of consciousness, the pupillary light reflex is a measure of pupillary parasympathetic function. By contrast, the pupillary light-off reflex leads to pupil dilation in response to an abrupt change from light to darkness ("light-off") and reflects combined parasympathetic and sympathetic pupillary function. To our knowledge, this reflex has not been systematically investigated in patients with disorders of consciousness.
