INDICATIONS: Chronic rupture of the quadriceps tendon with delayed diagnosis or failure of primary refixation with a dehiscence between 1 and 5 cm.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Dehiscence of more than 5 cm.

Spontaneous splenic rupture (SSR) is a relatively rare but potentially lethal complication of infectious mononucleosis (IM). BACKGROUND: Patellar tendon rupture is an injury most often occurring in adults and commonly caused by tensile overload to the extensor mechanism of the knee or direct trauma to the tendon. Early diagnosis and timely surgical repair lead to good functional outcomes and high rates of return to activity.

An acute isolated tear of the gluteus minimus tendon after a traumatic event is very uncommon, and only a few cases have been reported worldwide. We present a case report of a 43-year-old woman with lateral hip pain after a scooter accident. Prior to the accident, she had no hip pain. Magnetic resonance imaging showed rupture of the gluteus minimus tendon attachment to the trochanter major. The patient underwent operative repair after non-surgical treatment had been attempted. The surgery was successful, and the patient fully recovered without any hip pain.

Anterior vertebral tethering, also known as vertebral body tethering, is an evolving, minimally invasive surgical technique to correct spinal curvature in skeletally immature patients. The procedure involves placement of vertebral screws that are connected by an anterolateral tether. This procedure may be complicated by rupture of the non-radiopaque tether. The rupture of mitral papillary muscles is a very rare complication of infective endocarditis (IE). We report a case of anterolateral papillary muscle rupture resulting in severe mitral regurgitation due to IE in a young man without previous heart disease. The patient underwent urgent mitral valve replacement. The isolated rupture of the mitral papillary muscle complicating IE is rare. Urgent surgery should be performed is such cases.
