The ability of several listeriolysin O negative mutants of the virulent EGD strain of Listeria monocytogenes to activate specific T cell responses in vitro and in vivo was determined. A T cell line and a derived clone specific for Listeria monocytogenes, strain EGD, which are able to adoptively transfer protection and granuloma formation were examined. Specificity testing showed no difference between listeriolysin positive and negative strains to induce proliferation of the T cell lines and clones. Frozen tissue sections from the lesions of five patients with histologically proven mycosis fungoides were examined using a specific antihuman T-cell antiserum and an indirect peroxidase staining technique. The dermal and epidermal infiltrates were shown to comprise predominantly cells bearing the specific T-cell antigen, HTLA. Two of the patients exhibited characteristic Pautrier microabscesses whose cells were exclusively T lymphocytes.

This study reports the in vitro influence of morphine, dextromoramide, levomoramide, and methionine-enkephalin upon normal human T blood lymphocytes by using the active and total rosette tests. Morphine and dextromoramide inhibited the percentage of active T rosettes. This effect was completely reversed in the presence of naloxone, their specific antagonist.
