We performed 73 kidney transplants in 51 patients with steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS) with focal segmental glomerular sclerosis (FSG) ages 18.4 +/- 12.8 (mean +/- SD) years. Recurrence of SRNS, defined by rapid onset of proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia and/or > 95% epithelial cell foot process effacement with or without the presence of FSG, occurred in 26 grafts in 16 patients. Acute graft versus host disease remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality in allogeneic bone marrow transplantation. To date, no clinically useful test has been reported that will predict the occurrence of graft versus host disease in genotypic HLA-identical donor-recipient pairs. Two patients with osteochondritis dissecans of the hip were operated on and their case histories are presented. The relatively large foci were situated on the weight-bearing surface of the joint and the fragments were fixed using transplants of cortical bone. In both cases the focus healed, and the symptoms were relieved. At follow-up six and nine years later respectively, the clinical results were good and no signs of osteoarthritis had as yet developed.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: Hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia is characterized by arterio-venous malformations (AVM). It frequently involves the liver without clinical symptoms, but may lead to biliary ischaemia, portal hypertension, or fatal high-output heart failure. The indication of liver transplantation is controversial.
METHODS: Herein, we report the case of a 65-year-old female patient with a 'double Osler syndrome' consisting of hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) and type I hereditary angioedema diagnosed at the age of 25 and 22 years respectively.

This report comments the case reported by Muller et al. which describes a combination of at least two different indications for orthotopic liver transplant (OLT) in a same patient: hepatocarcinoma and HHT complicated with severe liver involvement and high output cardiac failure. Liver transplantation is nowadays the recognized treatment of many liver diseases and liver-based metabolic disorders in childhood. The indications are congenital cholestatic diseases, mainly biliary atresia, metabolic disorders and fulminant hepatic failure. AIMS OF THE STUDY: On 1 September 2011, donation after circulatory death (DCD) organ donation resumed in Switzerland after the DCD programme had been suspended for four years due to jurisdictional and medico-ethical discrepancies. BACKGROUND: Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorders (PTLD) are associated with significant morbidity and mortality following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (alloHCT). Although most PTLD is EBV-positive (EBVpos ), EBV-negative (EBVneg ) PTLD is reported, yet its incidence and clinical impact remain largely undefined. Furthermore, factors at the time of transplant impacting survival following PTLD are not well described.
