Invisible energy levels of the T1(pi, pi*) state of p-methoxybenzaldehyde (anisaldehyde) and p-cyanobenzaldehyde vapors have been estimated through the temperature dependence of the T2(n, pi*) --> S0 phosphorescence and the S1(n, pi*) --> S0 delayed fluorescence spectra. It is shown that the T1(pi, pi*) levels are located at 900 +/- 100 and 300 +/- 100 cm(-1) below the T2(n, pi*) levels, respectively, for p-methoxybenzaldehyde and p-cyanobenzaldehyde vapors. The estimated T1 energy levels are in good agreement with the phosphorescence origins in rigid glass at 77 K.

The vast majority of Friedreich ataxia patients are homozygous for large GAA triplet repeat expansions in intron 1 of the X25 gene. INTRODUCTION: The multicenter randomized phase III KHBO1401 study (gemcitabine+cisplatin+S-1 [GCS] vs. GC in biliary tract cancers [BTC]) demonstrated that GCS not only prolonged patient survival but also achieved a high response rate and that it should be good for neoadjuvant therapy. Therefore, to explore the possibilities of neoadjuvant therapy, we investigated the tumor shrinkage pattern.
METHODS: Among the total of 246 patients enrolled in the KHBO1401, the tumor shrinkage pattern and survival were investigated in patients with measurable BTC (n = 183, 74%; GCS, n = 91; GC, n = 92).

Multinational data on assisted reproduction techniques (IVF and intractytoplasmic sperm injection [ICSI], frozen embryo transfer, oocyte donation, preimplantation genetic diagnosis and fertility preservation) were collected from 159 institutions in 15 Latin American countries. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Friedreich ataxia (FRDA) is a neurodegenerative disease caused by a GAA triplet repeat (GAA-TR) expansion in intron 1 of the FXN gene. Patients have 100-1,300 GAA triplets compared with less than 30 in healthy controls. In FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3)-mutated relapsed/refractory acute myeloid leukaemia, gilteritinib, azacitidine and venetoclax is an effective salvage option with an ORR of 100% (mCRc [MLFS + CRc] 93%). Sixty-two per cent of patients treated with intention-to-transplant proceeded to allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplant, of whom 50% remain in long-term remission (median follow-up 43 months).
