Congenital hypotrichosis and partial anodontia in a crossbred beef calf.

Clinical examination, skin biopsies, skull radiographs, and DNA analysis of a 2-day-old Red Angus-Charolais-Simmental cross bull calf confirmed the diagnosis of congenital hypotrichosis and anodontia defect (HAD), also called anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia, which is a rare anomaly caused by a deletion in the bovine EDA gene on the X chromosome.

[The structure of the facial skeleton in children and adolescents with multiple anodontia].

Analysis of 1516 orthopantomograms of the jaws has revealed hypodontia in 256 (16.88%) cases, in 119 (46.48%) of these more than 10 permanent teeth were missing. A total of 182 lateral teleroentgenograms of the head were analyzed, recorded in 63 subjects with orthognathic occlusion, in 85 ones with abnormal occlusion due to hypodontia, and in 34 ones with hypodontia combined with anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia. Typical disorders of facial skeleton structure in hypodontia and anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia were defined with due consideration for the period of occlusion formation.

Anodontia of the permanent dentition: fourteen years after initial diagnosis.

The congenital absence of teeth, total anodontia, may involve both the primary and permanent dentitions. This paper updates the dental history of a twenty-eight-year-old Greek-American woman first reported in 1977 by Herman and Moss, when she was fourteen. Five complete sets of dentures had been made for her in thirteen years. Treatment was more complex due to an underdeveloped maxilla and a prognathic mandible.

Ectopic Mandibular Canine with Partial Anodontia - A Rare Case Report.

Ectopic eruption of the tooth is a developmental disturbance where the tooth does not erupt in a normal position. This may be due to arch length deficiency or due to, delayed or premature exfoliation of deciduous teeth, or a combination of the above. A total or complete absence of teeth is called true anodontia; if one or more teeth are missing, it is called partial anodontia. It can be syndromic or non-syndromic in occurrence. Here, we present a rare case of non-syndromic partial anodontia and ectopic eruption of permanent mandibular canine in a female patient.

Clinical management of hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia with anodontia: case report.

Ectodermal dysplasia is a rare hereditary disorder with a characteristic physiognomy. The case of a 5-year-old child with hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia and complete anodontia is presented. Because of the anodontia and the need for treatment at an early age, the prosthetic management of such a young child can be difficult. Complete dentures were provided to encourage a normal psychological development and to improve the function of the stomatognathic system.
