BACKGROUND: Surgical procedures including palatoplasty have a risk for complications. The aim of this study was to investigate the intraoperative and early postoperative blood loss using the buccal fat pad (BFP) during cleft lip and/or cleft palate (CL/P) surgery.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: This prospective study included a total of 109 patients with cleft palate (CP) during a three-month period of treatment at Hasanuddin University Dental Hospital (permanent center) and charity trips in rural parts of Eastern Indonesia. All patients were treated with DOZ Furlow technique combined with BFP graft.

Relationships governed by markets keep moral and social dimensions to a bare minimum. Gifts, by their open-endedness, defy such minimalization. Impersonal gifts such as blood or body parts or charity may not regulate relationships between specific individuals, but they serve other functions by regulating larger relationships and honoring important human values, precisely those threatened by massive and impersonal bureaucracies.

Scattered reports have appeared in the literature indicating a somewhat different behavior and distribution from melanoma in the White patient.
