Suppositories of theophylline-sodium salicylate were prepared with 10 different vehicles and also with tensids and softeners. With the dynamic diffusion method the drug dissolution and the in vitro diffusion were measured. It was established that proper choice of the vehicle is very important. The highest relative in vitro availability was measured in the case of glyceride base with low hydroxyl value. The diffusion of the active agent can be described by an exponential function.

In a comparison of the UV light--activated composite resins, Estilux was polymerized to a significantly greater depth than the other composite resins. In general, Lee-fill polymerized the least. When comparing the UV light sources, the Lee light and the Duralux light did not significantly differ from each other, but both polymerized the materials tested to a significantly greater depth than the other light sources. Of the two time exposures, 60-second exposure provided a significantly greater depth of polymerization than 20 seconds for each light with each material.

The physicochemical properties of the water sampled from the Beresh [correction of Beresha] River before and after the development of the Sharypovsk industrial center were studied. The rates of increases in the levels of river water pollutants, sulfates, biogenic mineral substances, phenols, and petroleum products were found. A total number of 50 rectangular specimens, made of hybrid visible light cured composite were used in the present study. The specimens were divided into 5 groups (10 specimens each). Each group was treated with one of the post-cure heat-treatment methods. Twenty healthy male volunteers were divided into four groups for a period of recreational physical exercise. Standard blood chemistry determinations were made before exercise and on the two subsequent days. Creatine phosphokinase (CPK), SGOT, and lactic dehydrogenase levels were transiently elevated, but the change was considered significant only in the CPK level after certain types of exercise. Persons having these determinations performed should be questioned about recent physical exertion in the event of abnormal laboratory results.
