Management of a giant perineal condylomata acuminata.

A condylomata acuminata infection is caused by human papillomaviridae (HPV). This sexually transmitted condition most often affects the perineal region. Importantly, infections with types 16 and 18 are associated with an increased risk for anal and cervix cancer. In most cases topical therapy is sufficient for successfully treating condylomata acuminata. Here, we report the case of a 51-year old patient who suffered from a giant perianal located condylomata acuminata which had developed over a period of more than 10 years. Imaging by MRI revealed a possible infiltration of the musculus sphinct…

[The conservative treatment of condylomata acuminata with Solcoderm].

The conservative treatment of the condylomata acuminata by Solcoderm is local, painless and ambulatory. One application of Solcoderm by a capillary pipette covering the pathologic formations is enough--they become rapidly devitalized and disappear within 4 weeks. Secondary infections on the treated area are extremely rare.

[Condylomata acuminata in childhood: description of a case].

Recent advances in understanding human papillomavirus imply that HPV infections are increasing in both men and women. HPV may cause subclinical disease and play a role in genital tumors. In prepuberal children the problem remains uncommon and can offer a difficult task of management and epidemiologic evaluation.

[Thymopentin in the treatment of recurrent condylomata acuminata].

Twelve patients who had been suffering from genital and/or perianal recurrent condyloma acuminatum for a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 24 months, in spite of treatment, were studied from the immunological viewpoint and treated with 50 mg s.c. Thymopentin three times a week for 4 or 6 weeks. Six of the patients were cured at the end of treatment, five after 5 months, and one was not cured. Analysis of the clinico-laboratory data shows a significant agreement between the course of clinical signs and the immunological picture. The various cure stages are probably attributable to the basic immune a

[Experiences with podophyllotoxin in the treatment of condylomata acuminata].

We treated 26 patients with condylomata acuminata with a 0.5% solution of podophyllotoxin (Condyline). Twelve of these patients were unsuccessfully pretreated with a common podophyllin 20% solution - some of them up to three months. In 22 patients (84.5%) we observed complete healing of lesions within 30 (6 bis 175) days with podophyllotoxin. Prompt response, minor side-effects, and the possibility for the patients to carry out the treatment themselves are the advantages of this podophyllotoxin preparation.

Laser treatment of condylomata acuminata in pregnancy.

A young patient in the third trimester of pregnancy had massive condylomata acuminata, successfully treated with the carbon dioxide laser. Lack of postoperative pain and of vulvar edema, minimal blood loss and easy vaginal delivery at term were significant factors in this case.

Carcinoma of the vulva arising in condylomata acuminata.

A case of carcinoma of the vulva arising in condylomata acuminata is presented. The patient was much younger than is classically reported for carcinoma of the vulva. The vulvar growth was first noted during pregnancy, and it continued to grow and enlarge following delivery. Malignancy appeared to develop after a relatively short time. It is sometimes difficult to distinguish vulvar condylomata acuminata from carcinoma from clinical evidence alone. It is, therefore, mandatory in doubtful cases to take multiple biopsies from the lesion before treatment is instituted.
